In.

I disagree banana. That thread added nothing to the anti-choice argument.

The post by Eagler was just a bad idea.  He knew very well that the animated gif would be removed.  He went so far as to provide a link to that gif for when it was removed, and threw it the face of HTC when he did.  Skuzzy's response was appropriate.  For his blatant disregard for the folks at HTC, Eagler should and probably has been, banned.

On the other hand, the replies to the topic were definitely appropriate.  People debating about partial-term abortion has just as much of a right to be on this board as does any other debate, be it over consecration of an openly gay Bishop, to what the best way to cook a steak is.

So, to sum up, it is my opinion that the removal of the gif, link, and possibly Eagler was completely justified.  The locking of the thread was not.

IMO, that's exactly what creates so many of the locked and deleted threads, as well as assorted acrimonious discussions and on-line mean spirited relationships.  In simple terms, it shouldn't be about sponsoring an environment that deliberately creates and fosters controversy.  There are already enough general subject boards available throughout the internet that encourage divisive and adversarial posting, so I really don't understand why HTC feels compelled to provide another one.

I've never seen a corporately sponsored BBS anywhere, that permits such openly hostile posts involving religion, abortion, anti-Semitism, borderline pornography and other questionable material for adults, let alone the probable reading by minors, as we see here.  I haven't noticed any links to snuff flicks yet, but perhaps I've missed those.

I don't understand what value any of these posts bring to HTC in a business sense, nor what this kind of content adds to any sense of creating a community around virtual flight simming.

If I were HTC, I'd hope that only a minority of my customer base ever read the BBS, let alone visited the OT area. ;)

Just my two cents.....

Regards,
Badger

There is nothing saying that the discussion cannot be resurrected.  Never really had any problems with people having civil discussions about controversial topics.  I would hope some common sense would prevail in all topics or threads that get started.
This is a corporate bulletin board.  There are limits to what should and should not be discussed here.  If you have to ask what the limits are, then you probably will step over the limit.

Such as the one poster in this thread has done.  Completely inappropriate and lends nothing to the discussion in this thread and, apparently, is only for shock value.

I monitor a Company BBS for work.... I have every right to delete or lock content not pertaining to company business or what I feel is inappropriate material. It is considered a "Public"  forum like This forum is for HTC. Sure it is open to customers to post about company business or matters pertaining to it, in a responsible manor.
I have alot to do everyday and monitoring the BBS is just one of 500 responsibilities I perform. I dont have time to play games with users on the BBS, when a user posts inappropriate material I get 10 private emails to myself from customers *****ing about the inappropriate  material another user posted... So I weighed the pros and cons of allowing inappropriate material and decided that in order to fulfill my job resposibilities something had to give.. Bull@#it posts lost that battle hands down! My company can't afford to pay one persons salary a year to monitor a free company BBS bottom line.
Consider that all you guys waiting for AH2 and pissing and moaning about the delay could be responsible in some small way
by distracting skuzzy from testing AH2 with him having to monitor the BBS all day for inappropriate material...?
Food for thought!

Skuzzy makes perfect sense. It would be like an anti gun thread starting off with a gif of a nine year old blowing his little brother away with a 357.

Just for medical discussion, you got any pics like that?  Just for discussion, of course. :p

Discussion was good, pic was over the top.  The pic didn't add anything but shock value to the discussion.

Tarmac, I think we all know what the procedure looks like of you going at it with Britney Spears. But a partial-birth abortion procedure is probably not as well-known outside the medical profession. That's why I considered that animated gif, repugnant as it was, educational. I have never seen how the procedure was performed.

Anyway, I've alreayd said enough, so I'm out of this thread.

I think it's pretty safe to say that everyone on this BBS is Internet saavy enough to find any and all the information they need on D&X / Partial Birth Abortion if they are so inclined.  I just did a google search and that pic was in the very first link.

I too found the animated gif replusive, yet educational. I didnt realize that abortions were done that late during pregnancy. It would have been in better taste for Eagler to just post the link and those who wished to view it could have simply clicked on it. OTOH...there was absolutely no reason why Skuzzy couldnt have just removed the gif and allowed the perfectly civil discussion to continue. This isnt the first time Skuzzy has locked or deleted a perfectly civil discussion

Mr Black, I want to hug Saintaw in retrospect.

How can I loathe someone but know better than repond to feed your addiction to posting to everything?

 Ok, it's worth it.

Clever alludes you at every post. It's amazing. I could take MEGS of pictures of Ripsnorts car photos and find fun reading, but you...

I mean some people like to sing, and they do so in their cars, but my Gad, they don't just pipe off in public all the time. You don't have the restraint of a drunken Japanese buisnessman in a Karoke bar as if they would have to  kill him, then unplug the MIC.

Truely, it's uncanny.

And how can you be so not funny with all those :p in every post?

Eagler could have done worse, he could have posted a movie clip showing the procedure  Thankfully he only posted an animated gif ;)
