F51's flying over a scrapped B29 in Korea. 51's are now F instead of P.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN

P-47 Thunderbolts circle before landing above a crashed Boeing
B-29 Superfortress belonging to the "Jolly Rogers" of the 6th
Bomb Group, XXI Bomber Command. The nose art and name
of the bomber have been painted out; however, part of the
name, "MILK," as in "Milk Run" or another variation,
is visible at the lower left.

  Sheesh Brady...

Here I'll take a stab at it.

B29 "Uncle Sam's Milk Wagon" of the 24th Squadron, 6th Bomb Group, 313th Wing, 20th AirForce.

Crash landed on Iwo Jima after being shot up over Tokyo on May 23rd, 1945

Yep, Frenchy being the ever P47 lover says those are P47s.

ARLO will be posting that those are Spitfires flying over a wrecked Mossie.

Don't you just love it when some idiot writes a book and can't even correctly identify the aircraft in his own photos? :rofl

Those "P-47 Thunderbolts" are P-51Ds, and they're not circling, but entering the break. That means they've flown down the length of the runway and are now peeling off to enter the downwind leg of their landing....
