initialization failed

When i tried to load AH2 i got a message that read:


Initialization failed with-3 main GR3D_failed-1

what does this mean?
And do i need to upgrade?

Need some information.  Video card type/model/ram, also what version of DX are you running?

You can get all that from DXDIAG (Start->Run->DXDIAG) then look at the Display tab.  Also post some system specs (System tab in DXDIAG).
