Cowboy Bebop is definitely cool. Great music as well. I haven't seen The Cockpit but it sounds promising.

Now ya want to talk about bad animation, anyone remember...
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

Animal is spot on.

'Grave of the fireflies' is as good as any film (anime or not) gets.

Also agree with Animal that although the production of Akira was sensational the story was utter pants.

Ravs.

If you're going to watch Cartoon Network, you gotta check out "Samurai Jack" and "Recess".

Animal hit it on the head, anime is awesome you just have to watch the right stuff.

BeBop rocks
Akira
Samurai Jack
Big-O is pretty good though you have to watch from the beginning.

Watch the good stuff, I too liked old bugs and tom and jerry, transformers even.

I do agree that DBZ is utter crap though, but so was thundercats, old justice league, space ghost, any new WB stuff, go-bots, silver hawks etc.

There is good and bad in all types of entertainment.

Grave of the Fireflies will have to watch that.

Of course the new ghost in the shell series is better then the movie( new movie in 2004 btw). Macross zero is fairly good as well.
I really havnt seen any good animation and story lines come out of the states. The good plots tend to be live action in our culture which leaves the dregs for animation.
Oh yea go watch jin-roh its badass.

Dragon ball z was made in the 80s for 12 year olds
and yugioh was made to sell trading cards.

What is your opinion?  Am I being too harsh?

Ok, Check out some shows like Hellsing, Ruroni Kenshin OAV's (Which is Historicaly Accurate), Grave of the Fireflies (Which is Historicaly Accurate aswell), Princess Mononoke which deals with Japanese Legend, Kimagure Orange Road, Jin-Roh, Wolf's Rain, and various others

You are Juding it off the mainstream Anime which gets to America and is usually hashed into what can be broadcast to the masses.

Anime is a wonderfull artform that I absolutely love and I will defend to the death.
