I wish to thank all veterans who have served their countries on this most sacred of days.
Soon I'll be on my way to the local Legion to buy the rounds for the vets I know, sadly this is costing less and less every year. It is up to all of us, and specially you parents, to make sure that the past and the heros who wrote it, is(are) never forgotten.
A little ditty I'm still working on......
Beaches
Where the soft green grass meets the coarse dark sand
there is no sign of the stains of misery, lost in time.
The lapping surf, and it’s relentless beat,
has forgotten the stories of all the sunken lives.
The gentle breeze, flowing from the sullen grey skies,
leaves no trace of the flaming planes.
The shores of time are strewn with such places,
beaches with names like Juno, Sword and Omaha.
Beaches where the constant flow of time,
has reduced soldiers screams to faint whispers.
Beaches that will fall into the unforgiving sea,
if not shored up by the memories within our hearts.
Lest we forget.
