Apologies to Eagler
« on: November 02, 2000, 06:00:00 AM »
Lost my cool tonight in the arena, and Eagler took the brunt of it.

Dunno what the problem is at the moment, but I think it stems from my original expectations for Aces High.

Remember 29 September last year?  I was hoping that THIS was the flight sim for me ... as realistic a representation of the trials and tribulations of WW2 air combat as you could produce in a multiplayer environment.

Maybe I expected too much, but I gotta say that when a Nik can chase and close on my 520mph Mustang, and clobber it with a burst from 850 yds ... well, like I said .... maybe I expected too much.

It's probably just a severe case of 'burnout'.  I think I've flown all but about 10 days since Aces High was released in September.  I've enjoyed most of it... well at least until 1.04 came on the scene with its emphasis on non-stop TnB.

So I think its time for a break, or at least a 'winding down'.  I'm sure not enjoying AH at the moment .. IMHO version 1.03 was THE definitive version to date: ... it wasn't perfect to be sure, but at least there were more than two aircraft types in the sky.

Sorry for the rant.. and particularly sorry to Eagler who became the repository for all the frustration that AH has become for me of late.

Cya round guys.

Jekyll, if there is one thing I have learned over the years of playing online flight sims, is that occaisonally we all need a break.

That woman that is in the kitchen? Thats your wife.

Those screaming and yelling little distractions, that always jostle your arm just as you are about to deliver the coup de grace into that N1K2? Those are your kids.

Walk away for a month and don't pick it up. If you feel an urge to play a computer game, try a roleplaying or sports game.

Its amazing how refreshing it can be

Sounds more like ostwind drivers to me.

Seriously, verm has a point jekyl, even just a couple days break will help a lot. Rent a movie and watch it with the wife, I do that occasionally, blows her mind!

Nope problem mate. It's just a game. I didn't want the HO but when you pulled into me from alt, I just got lucky with a snap shot.

A break will refresh, cu when you get back.

Jeykll,

Know how you feel buddy, I think doing a tour as a trainer compounds the burnout factor. Was up for the 1st time in a long time last night. Same old complaints...but boy did I have fun . all a matter of perspective...however the new FM still sucks.

As a long time nik fan, I still have to agree about 1.03. It was a killer plane even back then. But you had to plan what you were about to do. Or you were not going to get back out of it.

1.03 may have bled E to fast. But I think they took it to far the other way in 1.04. I would like to see them back it off a little. But there is no denying the increase in players from other sims.
