Not true... they can be addressed as either "President" or "Former President".

usually it is "Mr. President"

Only the actively sitting president is referred to as "the President"

You might want to look this up on the "White House Office of Protocol"'s website...

And as far as millitary Intell LOL Those in the Millitary often joke about that.
