A modest wish-list for AH.

Several improvements for AH:

1.  Radar.  I find it annoying that planes
are visible on radar _during_ flight.  I find
myself using it as a crutch for situational
awareness.  I don't know how many times I've
avoided the 'bounce' because I was able to
have a look at my comletely anachronistic,
handy-dandy 360 deg radar scope and see that
a red dot was real close behind me.  I
would suggest leaving the 'activity' bars on
the map during flight, as this could
represent the sort of inexact information
a pilot might receive during flight -ie
"bogies near A13!".  From a programming
standpoint turning this off during flight
only should be trivial.

2.  Airfield status.  It would be nice
to be able to see what the status of and
airfield is either on the map, or when you
double-click on the map to 'move' there.
I can't count the number of times I've
gone to a field taken the time choose a
plane, loadout, etc, only to find that when
I click 'fly', I get the "Can't take off
from this field" dialog.  Very annoying.

3.  Could we have the choice of a 4 or 5
line radio buffer using a small font?
Three lines isn't long enough.

4.  A gun-camera util.  I know we have the
film-recorder, but it's just not the same.
It would be nice to have something which
would put all the camera footage from
a single mission into and animated gif
or somesuch.  Placed on web-sites these
would also be great advertising for the
game.  I realize this is non-trivial to
implement.

5.  Sheep.  The current sheep routines are
horrible.  They just stand there and let
you run them over with your panzer.  I need
hardly point out that real sheep do not
behave this way.  Also they can take
an indordinate amount of damage without
dying.  Until this is fixed I'll simply not
be able to enjoy the game.

2.
This is a bug. You used to be able to do this, but it is currently not working. HTC are aware of it and it should hopefully be fixed by next version. The inflight version of this (the strat button) still works flawless tho.

3.
You can expand the radiobuffer by hitting either Tab or the key above Tab (~ I think on an english KB), depending on when you started on AH or if you edited you keys setup.

I agree completely with the suggestion of field status indicator.  Its frustrating to run to a base to help defend it and find it was a lost cause long before you took off.

I am also disappointed in the amount of unique aircraft not present...the Comet for one, which was a rocket powered aircraft that shot up almost vertically, made a few passes at high flying B17s/B26s an then glided home.  How many times have you tried to get into the air real fast to intercept a high-flying bomber inbound?

Also, many German aircraft had rocket-asssit take-off.  It would be some cool to see that appear here.

Spend a day watching Discovery Wings on a World War II marathon day and just drool at the many, many options this game could have!

Personally, Im dying to see some jet aircaft appear.  Aces High has some great game physics and game play that could really surpass what some multiplayer jet games have always seemed to miss.  F22 Lightening was good, but a 5 year old could shoot down the average Ace just buy launching everything he had 100 miles away.  Falcon 4 has a great game, but no central server or system for players to get linked up with each other.

Have fun guys, keep the ideas coming.

1. He 111! NOBODY does this plane, but it was VERY numerous. It was the mainstay of the Luftwaffe for a while. Maybe it'll climb better than an empty B26? *cough*hint*cough*

2. Spice it up! Right after you hear 3 "GEEERONIMOOOOO"'s, make one of them go "BAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!" and have the shape of a sheep. You know, some times in the war troops were hard to find  . Even Germany was conscripting folks

3. Make it so the sheep go "*squish*" when you run them over or bomb them. And, when bombing  fields, make the server say: SYSTEM MESSAGE: SHEEP DESTROYED. SYSTEM MESSAGE: SHEEP DESTROYED (or at least make them baah for us, eh?)

4. How about a faster uphill speed for vehicles? It sucks as it is.

5. isn't the Lancaster supposed to have 4 in the tail? I remember that specifically because it was a nasty sting. The model in AH has only 2.

6. FUEL DUMP COMMAND!!!!

7. some way to distinguish altitude whilst in freefall. Hit the silk too late and you die. But even with a GeForce I can't judge altitude in freefall well, it all looks the same, no matter what height. And when you CAN tell, it's too late ("eeeeEEEEEEEEAAA!!!!!! *splat!!!*")

8. FUEL DUMP COMMAND!!!!

9. Sound clip from Austin Powers: "OW! You shot me, you a-hole!" whenever you lose a wing   (no, just kidding!)

10. FUEL DUMP COMMAND!!!!

11. REAL flak guns. I wanna shoot and have my flak explode in black puffs, hitting the enemy planes. I don't want large bullets, I want black puffs! You can set predetermined altitude in the convergence screen, maybe?

12. .... ready? .... here it comes....

FUEL DUMP COMMAND!!!!

... dont' say I didn't warn you.

13. I would personally like to see the HE100D, the P-36, the Ju52 (gotta fly better than C47, right??), the beaufighter, and wasn't there a P51 variant that had 2x20mm in each wing?

>>3. Make it so the sheep go "*squish*" when you run them over or bomb them.

Eeeeeeeuuuuuu.... gross

>>5. isn't the Lancaster supposed to have 4 in the tail?

It had 4 in the tail but they were .303 light MG's. Trust me when I say that our version with the x2 .50's heavy MG's is much preferable.

>>7. some way to distinguish altitude whilst in freefall.

Here is a hint, when your freefalling, look left and look at the horizon, you can do a low altitude opening almost every time, without going SSSSpppplllaaaaattttttttttttt tt.

>>FUEL DUMP COMMAND!!!!

You have one   its called Drop Tanks

>>13. <snip> wasn't there a P51 variant that had 2x20mm in each wing?

Yep, was British actually and was I believe called the Mustang Ia.

Agreed, do away with DOT radar and keep the Bar Radar (Sector radar)

They should have the STRAT button available not only for in-flight, but in the Tower as well, you can currently check the status of the field by hitting STRAT button, but only in-flight.

3.  Could we have the choice of a 4 or 5
line radio buffer using a small font?
Three lines isn't long enough.

As mentioned, you have about 20 lines of text, simply hit the tab key

4.  A gun-camera util.  I know we have the

The community has been asking for this for a year now, but most would like to see HTC focus on getting more planes, strat into the game rather than pissing away their low resources(only 6 employees) on amenities such as this request

Sheep are overmodeled, and they always want to bum a smoke 'when you're finished'.

NO!!! Fuel dump! Not fuel tanks.

Fuel dump as in "I have 100% internal fuel on this damnable B17 and I didn't know what that meant til I tried to climb over 20 feet, I need to DUMP THIS FUEL!!!!!"

(been there, done that....)

I knew what you meant FreeLancer, but the sad fact is that most if not all, of the aircraft in Aces High were not able to DUMP FUEL.

I'm surprised that not too many other people found this to be an issue.  Right now it
is my biggest complaint.  Oh well...

Yes, but I don't want to fly around with
the huge buffer open.  WB has a 4 line
'normal' buffer, and I find the when flying
WB I have to look back to large buffer a lot
less frequently than I do in AH to see what
has been going on.  In short I think even
that one extra line makes a difference.
A rather trivial improvement on the big
list of things to do, but it would be nice.

Understood.  Also, with more planes, a
rolling plane set ala WB would be possible
too.
