They could have used an old engine and promise a major upgrade for 18 months. Then ya know add a few tweeks there month by month that seems to do the trick and brings in revenue by the hour, just call it a game with no upgrades.....oh wait never mind.

Ummm used to think that when you are in a closed beta, you cant say a word about the project...I recall someone said that you CANT say you ARE a beta tester...

Yep, I agree towd. Besides the obvious fact that there is naval and land combat as well, I think WW2OL is going to be targeted(at least initially) to the person who doesn't just want a "quick air combat fix", and is more interested in deeper strat using historically correct aircraft. You won't be seeing any "Spitfire vs. Spitfire" battles in WW2OL. Instead, 109 vs. Spitfire, and Hurricanes vs. HE-111's.

Personally they can take all the time they need to get it right.

I think they have bit off a bit more than they realised at the time. I also think they'll get it eventually it's just going to take time.

But thats fine, cause I've got AH to fly (Which keeps getting better & better with every passing month).
The more I read about it the more I come to see that perhaps HiTech is correct that they won't compete directly.

Edog,
when you start a business you usually begin with a business plan. In it you plan for expenses like payroll, equipment leasing, rent, utilities, ect.  If you misjudge your ability to generate revenue by 9 months you can pretty much be sure ur gonna be in bankrupcy court relatively quickly, unless of course you in fact knew beforehand when you would be able to generate revenue and planned accordingly, which again implies that they outright lied.

Crash you're pushing it a bit too far.

I am absolutely sure they have funding for well beyond 9 months. "Playnet" is making wwIIonline and they have other projects. Furthermore, they have around 25 employees.. believe me there are some big guys giving them alot of support.

I do see your point though about the delays, it tends to "annoy". However, this is absolutely NOTHING compared to a game called SuddenStrike. The demo was supposed to be out last year, it ended up coming out this year. The commercial version has even been completely yet. The worst part is the company, "CDV", never ever told the fans about wtf was happening. Really horrible service to the community.

CRS on the otherhand listens to us, the fans, and gives us feedback like every other day. Personally, I think the only ones close to giving such fan based support is HTC.

Either way, I think both AH and wwIIo "will" be great products.

I was on the closed beta for Eidos Confirmed Kill.  Ever see that game released?  Beta testing does not a game make.

I'm not trying to say WWII-Online won't make it... just that nothing is guaranteed in this industry.  They have the advantage of actually trying something new.. thought only by era.  Janes was supposed to do the same thing for modern-day (real-time), but that never materialized due to the complex issues that arrise.

I wish WWII-Online all the luck in the world.  They are going to need it.

CRASH,
you seem to not understand the internet strategy.  If you fall behind squedule and need more money, you don't file for bankrupty, you go looking for venture capital.  Only if you can't find venture capital do you start laying people off and preparring for bankruptcy.

Sheesh, trying to bring real business sense to the internet economy.
