Howard Dean McGoven is one such person. And unfortunately for the democratic party, he is the front runner to win the nomination for the 04 election.

Imagine if you will, if the United States sat out WWII. If people did not have the strength to stand up to people holding a knife to the throat of the civilized world.

Imagine if you will, the Isolationists, and Appeasers were in power in the US at that time.

How different would the world look? No one will ever know.

Now apply the same doctrine of the appeasement crowd to global terrorism.

You see why I am so worried?

*PS, saw a documentary last week on the Blitz. I sat and watched how the Nazi's killed your nations children without remorse, and was disgusted anew. FWIW, I think that global terrorism is an entirely different ball game to conventional war (obvious statement, I know).

Of course the US must be involved in global politics, but it's a two way street - in that if the US is to retain any credibility in global politics she should play the game and listen to what the rest of the world are saying.

It may be that the UK/US decision to invade Iraq was the right one - we shall never know because we will never know how the alternative would have panned out.

What gets me mad is that I swallowed the WMD line and was 'pro war' until I found out that I had been lied to. Trying to now justify it on the grounds that we got rid of a mad dictator doesn't alter the fact that I was lied to on an issue where honesty ought to have been paramount.

I shall not be voting for Tony Blair at the next election.

p.s. the Imperial War Museum had a special exhibit on the kids that died in that merchantman sinking. Some of the letters were so touching that many of the people reading them were in tears.
