Hello from Montana!
« on: November 19, 2003, 08:47:29 PM »
Hey, just getting setteled in here in big sky country.  Having a blast.  Already have the Mt drivers licence and licence plates, starting my job next week.

Finaly got this sat.  internet thing working, Im not that impressed but it is better than dial up, although I haven't tried it in the MA yet.

ELk hunt in Idaho was a blast, 6 guys in camp and all 6 got their bulls, dropped mine at 200  yards on the run with 1 shot.  I love that little 300 wsm, it sure does the job.  Longest shot of the week belonged to a 300 H&H mag, 423 yards, took 2 shots (both hits) to drop him, then took us a day and a half to pack out the cape, 4 quarters, and the back straps, loins.

HOpe to see yall in the MA!

All 6 of you got bulls!? WTG!  Glad you're settled in.  We'll be passing through in June OTW to Minnesota, I've got a Slide-in and a boat I'm picking up back there, then we're turning around and heading to Fort Peck for a week of fishing.  Can't wait!

I'll be back in Ennis for Deer season in Fall 2004, maybe we can hook up then...

Thanks guys.  Having fun here and the snow is not a problem.  No more here than where I came from.

Rip, sounds good, looking for some good areas to hunt, there are a lot of deer right behind my house but havent seen any big bucks, only a few forkies.  Also looking for a good place to hunt coyotes, my favorite pass time.:aok

Are you using a Satellite connect to play Aces?  I would think the ping times are horrible.

Have fun!

medicboy (or anyone familiar with montana), would you mind posting the average daily expenses?

Im thinking of moving (anywhere... i hate florida) and would love some $$ info.

like water, power, rent, food, internet, whatever you comfortable saying.

also been thinking vermont or washington...

im a small city person, hate large crowds.

and of course, any city or town with a 2:1+ female to male ratio would be nice too *grin*

lepaul:  I tried aces high last night, and had no major problems, it's not as smooth as my cable was but I was getting 60-70 frames per second, the only thing I noticed is when I keyed my radio to talk frame rate droped dramaticaly.

Westy:  frank is dead, but there are a few other celebs here, but I don't care...

OIO:  I came from Cali so the cost of living is WAY cheaper here, here are a few examples.  Not sure about water, sewer, other city services, I live on a mountain south of town.

3 bed/2 bath house on 2 acres for $130k, can rent a 3 bed/2 bath house for around $600/month.  Car insurance is about the same as Cali, so expensive. Car registration is about the same as Cali.  $600 for my 2000 chevy truck and 2001 toyota 4runner per year (for both)  Gas is $1.49/gal, about $.40/gal less than cali.  There is no sales tax.  State income tax is 10% I think.  Oh ya, there are hot women every where!  I was suprised, there is a big university in Missoula where I work, tons of college girls.

Mini D, I ended up in bewteen Hamilton and Darby, about 6 miles north of Darby, 10 miles south of Hamilton.

Check out Bozeman sometime, its the State College town, makes the girls in Missoula look like they need to pull their head out of a feed bucket to get a good look at 'em.  I swear, always seems "State" colleges have better looking females than private. :D
