what do you fly ?
« on: September 27, 2000, 01:46:00 AM »
So, what are you ?

A - pilot who flies for fun. He doesn't care what plane he flies, as long as he can find a fight and have a good time. Flies all the planes, no matter how competitive they are. (also type who crashes his plane to the ground when wife calls  )
Other reasons for this pilot might be: interested in WW2 planes in general, testing different types, racking score so he can prove underdogs are in fact competitive (you know who you are  )

B - pilot who, similar to A, flies for fun, but concentrates on one particular type, no matter how good or bad it is. Changes his ride of choice only after few months.

C - pilot who flies only the best plane available and switches it with every new release to stay competitive. Country or year are not important.

D - pilot that flies all types of one particular country. Switches plane types for different missions, but never the country.

E - pilot that flies only one type of one particular country. Almost never switches, regardless of version.

I'd go with E for me.

And you ?

I'm none of those types. Having been fascinated with wwII airplanes since I was 4 years old, when the neighbor kid gave me his model airplanes and I used to watch "Bah Bah Blacksheep" on TV. I find joy in exploring all the planes regardless of nation of origin. To me any addition to the planeset is a welcome one. Getting a good fight is more important to me than surviving or getting a kill. Although I would never auger on purpose except in the pork arena . Most attractive planes to me are the ones with rich and interesting histories . And of course good looking planes. However since I'm in a Polish squadron I restrict myself to the planes used by the polish airforce, but only on squad nights .

There is just something elegantly logical about late war japanese aircraft. My fasination began with the KI84 in WB then moved to the N1K2 here. I fly them all, but always come back to my little nik.

Not sure how to clasify myself, none seem to fit just right so I will start another set F.

I fly mostly one plane, the P-47, but I also will spend evenings flying other aircraft for a change. Country does not seem to matter too much but some of the aircraft are more interesting to me than others. I fly for fun and enjoy a good time. Score isn't at the top of my list but I like to land multiple kill sorties. Actually I like to land any sortie  . I tend not to fly the uberplanes unless you consider the P-47 a uberplane.

I'd be that "F" too   I most fly Fw190A5, but I use to fly A8, 109G10 and less G2.

I dont have problems in flying some "foreign"   iron sometimes. Its a rare happening, but I do it anyway.

In countries, I like knights the most, but I have been in all countries recently and I look forward being there again

[edit]Add some "A" to that "F"...not wife (I have none  ), but if mother calls...crash or not crash, is ALWAYS better to let the computer flying alone  [/edit]

E, but also D depending on mission.

I fly the 109 G-2 almost exclusively.

There are 4 exceptions:  For JaBo I take the 190 A-8.  For bombing I take the Ju88.  For field capture I take the C47 or M3.  For ground attack I take a ground vehicle.

B type: I currently fly Yak-9U or 109G10 for air to air missions, and the F4U-1C or Typhoon for ground & base attack. But these change from tour to tour depending on my mood.
