Greetings

Lately I've been recalibrating my config b4 each flite but keep
finding that whichever a/c I fly I keep LOOSING POWER in my a/c

I checked my ISP finding no probs there.

I believe my prob may be my throttle setting in AH Setup, but ha-
ving no idea as to what it should be set to creates the obvious
existant problem.

Any ideas as to how I might correct this problem would be most
appreciated, TY.

If you're recalibrating the throttle axis and the recalibration just isn't staying, check in your AH/settings folder to make sure that none of the files are checked to be "read only." I believe the specific file is stick.cfg or something like that. But none of the files in that folder should be read only; so you can just select everything and uncheck the box for all of them.

Running out of WEP?

No I didn't run out of WEP, had plenty left, just started to lose power, that's been going on 4 3days now.

Thx 4 ur advice Tarmac, did per ur recommendation, accessed my
stick.cfg file , opened it & found a read me file which I promptly
disposed of.

I immediately accessed AH & went flying when to my surprise as I was pulling out of a dive noticed that my power began decreasing
steadily...there were NO HITS on my plane to cause that

This is a constant (Power loss), I chkd my setup(Joystick) & believe that I didn't set/calibrate my throttle correctly, I had both the deadband & damper dwn, or should it be? I've my Deadband at 3/8ths inch & Damper at 1inch now & am still having problems.

What's the normal setting for throttle under setup? Any1?

Happy it sounds almost as if you have a problem with the throttle slider on your stick. If I recall correctly you have a logitec stick?

The throttle should not back off, no matter where you have the deadband and damping set.

Can you get the power to come back by pushing the throttle slider up a bit (even though, it is already at max on the stick, IE add a little thumb pressure)?

Also go to set up---> Joystick in game and then select joystick. Look in the window where all those numbers are (right side of the popup) and see where the throttle settings are. Move your throttle through its full travel and note that the numbers climb and fall smoothly. Then leave it at full throttle and just watch it for a few minutes. Does it back off on its own? (IE do the numbers decrease).

If it doesn't stay stable, then I would say you have a stick problem. Not normal (but not uncommon) with that stick. I have the same stick and go through about 2 per year. I like the stick for its layout but quality is a bit of an issue.

One more thing...have you recalibrated it in Windows as well?

Not a readme file... files that are set to READ ONLY. To find out go to the settings folder in AH. Right click on the file and select Properties. A new window appears showing various details about the file. One of these is a checkbox that says Read Only. If the box is checked... uncheck it.

Thx much 4 ur replies; RTR u r correct in ur evaluation of my stick
Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D Digital, per ur advice I accessed the AH settings of my J/S & found the following settings:

Roll, Pitch & Rudder all = 32767, whereas Throttle (idle)= 65535.
Throttle @ full (100%) = 511, thumb pressure on throttle places
it @ 0 (Zero).

When in flite in a hostile environment I use the throttle a lot to
slow, quicken , WEP on/off, or chop throttle. I noticed on the AH settings that my throttle slipped from 0 to 511 to 1053 within 2 -
4 minutes, now I understand what it's like flying under a handicap
& unable to duplicate P47 fliers RTB in a plane looking like a sieve.

Btw, 4got 2 mention that the settings never returned back to the original throttle setting of 0 (zero) but seem 2b decreasing

Now then, how to fix this problem?? Contact Logitech support, I
surmise, as I bot the stick in mid July, 2003 & it's under warranty.

Yes Happy it sounds like the throttle on the stick.
You could confirm this by removing the stick and try just using the mouse to fly a sortie. If you have no throttle problems then by all means it must be the stick itself.

I have seen sticks with weak throttles and also weak twisty (rudder) control. Generally with me I get about 6 months out of the stick. Rudder is usually first to go for me (I'm a little ham fisted hehe). But I did wear a throttle out a couple years ago too.

I would contact logitech and see what they say. This is not normal, but like I said before its not unusual either, so they are undoubtedly aware of these types of problems with this stick.

U hit the nail on the head, my mouse, throttle
everything works well....NP. Reconnected J/S, recal everything,
recal in WindowsXP. Went flying in H2H & in middle of dogfite noticed a/c straining to complete the loop ...had plenty of alt+spd.

Upon completion of dogfite whilst RTB, I chkd AH setting, my throt-
tle slipped from 511 to 5236. Yep it seems that I should start loo-
king 4 a new stk, after contact w/TechSup.

Wish I'd have a CHProducts stk 1stly, but they're expensive or a
Thrustmaster, they too r expensive & as I understand Gullemot
is NO help at all.

yeah im using a logitech extreme 3d pro, and i don't have any problems... i think i had the same stick you had before... i ended up breaking it lol... does it have a sliding speed control under the stick assembly or is it a flap type that goes forward and back, on the base of the j-stick... is the joystick black, or black and silver?

I went through so many Logitech sticks that I have vowed never to buy them again. I've had many problems with spiking from various axis and have also seen the throttle problem as well where the throttle potentiometer unexplicably reads less than max values as I move the stick. Went through 3 logitech wingman extreme 3D sticks in about 1.5 years.

I settled for a Saitek USB 3D Gold it has lasted me 2 years with no issues. Costs about the same as the Logitech stick did so it's a good option in my opinion.

On a side note I've been so happy with the quality of the Saitek that I just recently got the Saitek X45.

Just as a side note:

for those who are experiencing severe nose bounce or spiking in any or all axis, make sure that you DO NOT have Force Feedback enabled in joystick setup.

From the clip board go to setup---> joystick---> click on the "force feed back" tab and make sure that the "Disable all forces" button has an "X" in it.

If it is enabled, and you do not have a FFB stick, all kinds of weird and wonderful symptoms appear.

Just a thought, before anyone decides to throw out a stick (no matter what kind).
