Luckily it struck the KKK member in the head, and not in a part of his anatomy he uses.

Reminds me of that pakistani wedding where the groom and a bunch of others blew themselves up trying to fire a mortar in celebration.

I feel kinda bad about not feeling bad for them.

DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Funny how some problems ultimately contain their own solutions.

Hmm...something strange about this story. Lets see... assuming it didn't go in a balistic arc (which would not be possible coming straight back down) then it would have actually stopped, ran out of energy, at some altitude, maybe like 500 - 1000 feet, dpending on the caliber and round fired. Now as it's coming back down and falling at gravity's sake, it could only reach it's terminal velocity which should not be enough to penetrate someone's skull. Maybe bing them in the head pretty good. I used to know how to calculate this kinda stuff but am too lazy nowadays.

Any comments?

I guess a bullet with at least 300km/h is able to penetrate a head, at least a KKK head cause a KKK head is unbelievable squashy

Yeah besides rogwars comment - what are the odds that out of 10 to 12 people the bullet hits anyone let alone the person being initiated.

Somethings very fishy.

Vt = sqrt( 2W/(Cd * rho * A))

Vt = terminal velocity in feet/second
W = weight in pounds
Cd = drag coefficient - assume 0.75
rho = atmospheric density (about 0.0024 at sea level)
A = surface area in square feet

   Vt=134.14(d - .039) .972

d=median grain size in millimeters.

My head hurts.

Terminal velocity of an undeformed rifle bullet can approach the sound barrier, and the apex of such a round starting off at a muzzle velocity of around 3000fps will go well beyond the 2000 foot mark, allowing for the round to approach its terminal velocity. The other question to ask is just how many inches of solid bone did the roof of his skull consist of.
