How can HTC increase numbers in Asia/Pacific time?
« on: August 16, 2000, 11:09:00 PM »
Rather than a whinge, I thought we could get some constructive discussion here.

To give you an idea, the past couple of weeks (week nights) have had numbers in the tens to low twenties when I log on (usually about 7-10:30pm (GMT+10)).

There was talk some time back about discount rate at low peak times for everyone.  Can HTC do this with their current billing system? HT? Pyro?

How about getting in advertising with Aussie / AsiaPacific games magazines - PCPower Play comes to mind in Australia.

What will it take for HTC to do something for the Asia/Pacific players - in terms of getting more people to play?

It's not a bad idea.  Off peak pricing might put more "arnoldes in the seats".

I have been playing West Coast USA timezone, and on a  "Swing shift" (work 2 - 10 pm)which means I cracka cold beer and fire up AH at 11:00PM my time.

Unfortunaltey that is 1:00am East Coast USA time, so it usually means 30 players, or less,  online. Cool in some regards cuz you know everyone friend and foe and can go tear it up accordingly.

Still, the player base just wasn't there, so I deleted my account.

The Sales and Marketing Dept. might have the answer, I mean WILL have the answer of course. Hurry up and recruit already.

I am is Spain and I see the same most of the morning here.

BUT...I will play the egoist guy here. Sorry, but I don't see why you can have a lower fee than mine. You can go at night (Like I do with US People) and find 70+ people online from europe.

I may have taken bad your point but I understood that, bassically is Asia/Oceania people having a lower monthly fee?.

Sorry I have to disagree

I means there's prolly 5-6 players on each side.  You should know Cit..I always see you.  It's hard to find a fight or you keep shooting down the same guy..that aint much fun.

I've resorted to capturing bases!..argh  .

RAM,

I'm not saying it should be cheaper for the region, but lower rates during the offpeak times.  That is, it applies to anyone who wishes to play in that time period.

The AUD-USD exchange rates at the moment sux so I suspect a lot of people are just not willing to make that commitment...but that's besides the point.

Anyway, the discount rate thing was just a suggestion.  I don't care how HTC does it...I'd just like to see more numbers in the time zones that some of us play in - yours included.  It's a global game (some may not agree  ) so promote it as such.  There's people from all over the world in AH, so use them to do the foot work.  I'm sure most people are willing.

I play in the US peak times on the weekends and sometimes when I'm off work so I know what the numbers are like then too. It's a lot more fun to take off and find a fight without the sight-seeing.

So what do you think can be done to help numbers for the time zone you play?  It's about having fun - that's what matters...sight-seeing and shooting down the same guy over and over ain't fun!
