Permanent .squelch list and AH2
« on: November 29, 2003, 05:47:44 PM »
Haven't been around for some time and was curious if a permanent .squelch function, for both people and channels, will be part of AH2?

If not, I'd be quite interested as to why.

It wouldn't do any good.  Most of the guys who get squelched are noobs who learn to get along better if they stay with the game. Those who don't just change their names.

Last time I checked .squelch 6 and .squelch 1 never changed their names. :)

Every multiplayer game of size has an /ignore filter of some sort. They serve a purpose and work very well.

Hey, I agree!  I NEVER tune channel 1!  At least give us a config file so we can do it ourselves.  I hate to have to type it in each time I fly.

I have nothing against the drievel that comes across there at times it just makes the country or room comms scroll too fast.

Seen this before-------

Don't expect any input from HTC in this thread unless it gets ugly & someone makes them respond.

From my experience, HiTech somehow feels that the squelch command is sufficient & that enabling a permanant squelch command would send the wrong message to potential new players. I myself never understood the logic behind this decision. Regretfully it is not my decision to make, or it would have been implemented long ago.

I made a similar thread long ago askin for P-squelch in MA, even though VERY MANY people agreed & wanted the feature added, the post was ignored by staff, then it was moved to a less popular forum.  So they took the time to move it because it was so popular & not what they wanted to see. But they couldnt take the time to offer any explaination at all.

Naturally this made me angry & I took the wrong measures, got banned from game & boards for a month & almost for good. After that I realized- - - -  Its HTCs game, every aspect of it. If they don't want to respond, they wont. If you dont like it- deal with it, if you dont wanna deal- quit. They have advertisement in place to pull in 10 people to replace ya.

Now of course I still pay & I still play, so I aparently I think its worth it. For the record I fly about 90% of my flight time with CH1 squelched. I usually squelch 2-3 countrymen every time I fly.

Funny you should mention the lack of communication from HTC Clown. The last time I played I had to cancel my account as it became unplayable, and HTC wouldn't respond to my requests for help...

I figured I'd test the waters again though. I'm still running on the free trial account. Will see if it makes it to a subscription account. Heh, isn't looking too likely thus far. :)

Vortex, I have found the best way to get help from staff is to write support@hitechcreations.com directly. Skuzzy is real good about problem solving & thats the best way to get him on the case. Good luck.

Not too heavy on the "why" portion, but if that's sufficient from your side of things ht, so be it.
