Let me tell ya bout new egg
« on: November 29, 2003, 08:07:19 PM »
I bought a abit Max3 mobo back in august
I blew it up last month using my prometiea phase change cooling system.
Condensation got In on the  Mobo and zap there she went.
i thought well watermelon there goes $225.00 bucks.
Then the other day I thought what the heck I will try to RMA the board back to new egg.

And low and behold they are sending me another MAX3!
Now this IS NOV29th!
And I'm sure they could have seen that an idiot had messed up
the board :D

This just goes to show what a great company they are.
Ps they refunded my money on an Abit IS7-G board as well.
NEW EGG ROCKS.

generally they will RMA something back up to a year after it is purchased.......sadly however you mobo will probably end up in the "refurbished" section as they generally dont test them.  I had an ECS K7s5a board that would lose CMOS settings and not recognize the floppy, the day they received the RMA I check the refurb section and guess what....they had relisted the bad board.  Buying refurb is a luck of the draw thing, I bought an EPOX board that runs perfectly fine as well as an Albatron TI4800SE.  I did however get two DVD-rom drives that had something loose floating around inside and would work sporaticly.

And It does not effect there retail pricing one bit!
they will simply fix it and sell it as refurb making someone a good deal.

That has some merit, but is offset by the fact that many bussinesses send out half finished products. I'm not talking about the ocaisional bug in a program, but programs they KNOW are unstable or hardware with KNOWN engineering flaws. Its common place in the Microsoft world. Yea, they release patches and fixes, but it amounts to them borrowing money from YOU interest free during development. I think that interest free financing will offset some products returned do to consumer negligence.

Yes.  I have.  More than once.  When its been my fault/responsibility for the "busted" or other out of whack item.

And yes, it does affect pricing.  Who's gonna "fix" the board?  How are they gonna get paid?  Are they gonna make that back from "refurb" sales?  Is it worth their effort? Or are they just gonna toss it?  Eventually, if enough people do this, they either raise their prices or rework their returns policy - screwing all of us.  But hey, no worries - you got yours, right?

Yes, newegg is a great place.  Good on them.  But shame on you.
