The problem with Canada is...
« on: December 01, 2003, 10:44:50 AM »
... the workers have things too good.  I mean, look, in America we work hard and play hard but the Canadians get to drink beer, play with shotguns, and just show up for work to get a paycheck.  Why, even their government tree pruners have offices.  Here in America, a tree pruner's office is the back of a pick-up truck! :p

I kinda like the way Canada is doing things lately.  Happiness during work is :aok.  Makes for better productivity, numerous studies have been done to prove it.

I caught a show the other day on a new law that is being debated, would be beneficial.

The law IIRC is regarding marjuana usage, and how if you are carrying a single bag under 18 grams, you'd be fined but not jailed.

However the main focus was going after the growers and large quantity distributers.

Seems to me too many people are in jail in the US wasting tax payers money for 1.8th of pot.

I don't smoke and haven't for quite sometime, but seems to me this would be a little more fiscally sound.  I guess should don the firefighting gear now?

as i get older i find the govt likes unsolvable problems.

remember the drug war. run by the same people who import the drugs. thus a net lowering of the price of drugs.

alot of people make their livings off making things crimes that are not.

gee... dorf vader.... you may even be able to make the leap someday that government IS the problem... not just the government that you don't like today.    I imagine you will get it in about 5 or 10 years.... in the meantime you will be voting for bigger and bigger government and wondering why it intrudes on your life so much.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on how the union members support this nut case's arguments to get his job back, even if he has proven himself to be dangerous to his bosses.

if he is a member in good standing of his union then (if canadian law is simular to american law in this area) the union has no choice but to represent him in what is essentially a dispute over firing.

he won't win,  being drunk at work, bringing a gun to work, threatening a boss, would all be "gross misconduct" at the very least.

the union has to file the papers and provide him with representation if it goes to court, they have no choice ( in america the union would be in violation of fair labor practices by picking and choosing which dues paying members will be represented and which are ignored)

Reinstating a lunatic employee who threatened to shoot his bosses makes about as much sense as reinstating a ballerina who got too fat to lift!
