WW2OL: I'm Hooked
« on: December 01, 2003, 10:45:44 AM »
Been playing in WW2OL for about a month now, ever since the introduction of v1.10.

I'm in heaven. It's new, it's fresh, and it's fun as hell. I haven't felt this good about an online game since AH opened shop. And it's as fun as Warbirds was back in the "good old days" of v1.11r2.

I know many of you, as I used to be, were/are skeptical of the progress made on WW2OL since it's opening debacle'.

All I can say is that since I've been back online in v1.10, I can't wait until late at night when my wife & son go to bed so I can log on and play. There is so much to do in the game, and it's all fun. I especially love the ground combat, fighting as infantry or driving a tank, or manning an AT gun.

There are still some bugs and some play balance issues, but frankly I'm having so much fun right now that those issues don't mean a hill of beans to me.

No. 66 Commando, which plays for the Allied side, is full of old WB and AH players, and has open slots for anyone here who wants to give WW2OL another try. We use TeamSpeak for voice comms, and it works well.

Thumbs up!

:aok

banana, this BBS is no place to get the kind of help you need. You need to seek professional help to deal with this problem.

Hmmm...I might have to try it again, against my better judgement!

Agree there, LDV...

AH has spoiled me with VOX, and I don't relish the thought of firguring out Teamspeak.

But, I'm so freakin' bored these days, I've been playing...

Sit down for this....

Civilization III and Flight Simulator 2004!

Oh the Humanity!

I'm not logging much AH time anymore,  so maybe...just maybe...

wait, do I have to buy a box or is this thing a free D/L?

There is extensive use of Team Speak in the game as there is no voice com as part of the game.

I am suprised banana likes it playing for allied as currently the axis are kicking allied butt seriously. :D It is less fun to play when you are loseing ground.

The axis equipment really is inferior to the allied. Especially the planes. Not trying to start a debate as one who has played with both it is very apparent if you compare.

So for the axis to win it really takes a much better level of teamwork. I find that games that have one side handicaped with inferior equipment usually attract the guys who do not like to go out and lone wolf it and prefer to work togther. You can't survive if you go lone wolf in an inferior plane unless you are very very good. But you can if you have a stronger plane.

If you want to check out a axis squad that is top notch go to http://www.windhund.org

Glad you are having fun in there banana. If you are in the north you and I have probably tangled in the air and I have been flying quite a bit recently.

"It is less fun to play when you are loseing ground. ..."

Sux even more when that problem is made so much worse by the massive side changing by players (for various "gamey" reasons) too.

"I'm not logging much AH time anymore.... "

Same.  But I  closed my account this last weekend.

I agree on that one. Guys who switch sides really wreck it.

I think that each map reset you should be forced to pick a side and stay with it to the bitter (or not so bitter) end.

Maybe that will come. They are constantly tweaking the way the game is played and side switchers are a real issue.

This is serious. Don't join the allied side or you will be a banana (no offense banana). The real good guys in this game are all axis.

Go to http://www.windhund.org get in and ask them to help you play axis. Tell them WBarker sent you. I can help you out if I see you in game as well.

Muckmaw it's both. You have to buy the boxed version then D/L massive updates :)
Corkyjr on country jumping:
In the end you should be thankful for those players like us who switch to try and help keep things even because our willingness to do so, helps a more selfish, I want it my way player, get to fly his latewar uber ride.

or just download the full version and buy the cd key online...19.95 i believe but that also covers the first month of play time.
