Online Beta Lock up
« on: December 03, 2003, 01:40:56 PM »
Logged into AH2 Beta last night, and tried to play online.

Both times I tried, my CPU locked-up at the sign in/passowrd screen, after inputting the info and pressing enter.

Hard to Hard reboot my cpu both times.

ANyone else having this problem?

I've tried calling HTC but their phone has been busy for the past few hours.

Your vid card is inadequate for AH2

If that was the case, would'nt the CPU lock up when I run it in Offline mode?

Quick reply!

Not neccessarily, on-line play is much more intensive proccessing task .  Might have something to do with only 64 mb RAM on that card. Ti 200 was good in it's day, still is for some games, but AH2 is too sophisticated for that card to run it efficiently.  It's fill rate and clock speeds are far below newer cards.

Same problem here...

It just freaking sits at the login screen for_freaking_ever
and no amount of ALT-Tab'ing or CTL-ALT-DEL'ing
gets the $&*&## program back.

Had to do a hard reset twice...the third time, after
WAY too long a time it did come back with "Can't
connect....blah,blah" but the video background was
PORKED and it took WAY_TO_FREAKING_LONG to
respond to inputs to get out of the ^^$I(((&%$#$
program!

Even in offline mode the $%**&%@# program would
NOT ALT-TAB out....I had to hard reset the &*()(^&%$%#$#
program after attempting to ALT-TAB out to setup
my stick.

This is a MAJOR step backwards, IMO, and all the
new eye candy is NOT worth it...

On the matter of the log in attempt and failure,
that time delay between the intitial attempt and
the "Can not connect" message needs to be
much, MUCH shorter!
I'm not going to sit around for 180, 90 or even
60 secondfs waiting for some indicationm that
the )(^$%#*& program is still alive!

Oh, and the "you video card is the problem"
 comment is BS....IMO of course.

Do you guys have a firewall ?

You need to put a new rule in it.

I know Zone Alarm has a problem with the Game..try shutting down ZA..then see if you get into the Game..if you can alt-tab to desktop ..you may have ZA asking if you want to allow the site.

Whoops left out a step... if with ZA off you can into game alt-tab to desktop and restart ZA... then see if you get the ZA popup.. ok it then back into game.. I understand that with XP this will work but you may have to use the same routine each time until ZA comes out with a patch

The video card has nothing to do with it.

Sounds like ZoneAlarm to me. When "AH is stuck", press R and Y. "Remember" and "Yes".  :)

Mine's fixed.

Firewall was blocking it.

Thanks for the tip.

 Same here.

I had previously entered AH II into the "Programs" list of
ZA and THOUGHT I had "checked" the "allow" boxes.
 Apparently I hadn't...

The issue of having to wait for_freaking_ever_
for AH to give up and report back when it can't connect
is still valid, IMO. That time should be much, much shorter.

Also, the response ( or not ) to an ALT-TAB seems to
be very long the couple of times I've tried it.  Finnaly
ran out of patience with this "beta" after a few minutes
on line, in the fog, and said "screw this...call me when it's
 done!"...logged to watch some soaps...
