Tonite I'll download it on my P3 933, Geforce MX420, SBlive, win98 system & see what we get. I catch mid-high 60s FPS in "classic MA".

I havent DL TOD yet because I have limited flight time & not willing to use it until the game is playable. But someone said its "playable", Guess I'll check it out & report what I find.

More to come-

Well If you download TOD let me know where you got It LOL.
hint IT AINT OUT YET.

played it for several hours last night, quite playable just a little rough as a beta should be.

the flight model improvements alone are worth it. i dont wanna fly ah1 now.

Latest drivers recommended here, old set of drivers (3082) recommended by Skuzzy in another thread for GF3 users. How about a small list of most popular hardware and the recommended drivers (best for AH2) for each O.S.?

Latest drivers for the type of hardware is probably more appropriate.

We recommend the 30.82 or 41.09 NVidia drivers for GF3 (or any MX card) and earlier cards as those are the last drivers NVidia optimized for that class of hardware.  Later drivers have issues with those earlier cards, or simply do not render some things, among other problems.
The 45.xx drivers and later are optimized for the FX cards, which have a very different architecture.  The 5x.xx drivers do some rather strange things to the DX registry which preclude changing your video card without reinstalling DX.

maybe its because people dont like it?

I for one hate:
the "new" clip board
the new flight model

and in away, why wouldl you want to play somewhere that doesnt have all the planes, when MA of AHI has everything you need...?

Lots of people are dissapointed.
They expected more.
You also noticed that in MA the numbers are going down slowly?

"You gonna pay for my upgrade hotshot?"

 Yeah!!  ;)

And are they going to compensate for testingin some small way? I imagine if AH2 was truly "open" beta, like the first time round,  they'd have many more people in there if it was fully "open."  As it's still only accessible to paying subscribers I imagine they have all they need.

But ultimately my eagerness to test pretty much matches the level of community interaction and updates on the "upcoming product" that came from HTC over the past year and a half.

Geez, where have I heard something similar before and why does it sound so familiar coming from Westy? :)

Seriously, ya'll might be surprised about the upgrade thing. I'm actually in there flying the online beta arena on my old AW3 box (P3 550 o/clocked to 682) that I added a Radeon 8500 video card to.

Of course, it bogs down if I turn the eye candy all the way up, but with some of that cut back a little it dogfights just fine, very smooth. I really think that anyone with at least a gigahertz of processor speed and a little bit newer video chipset should be OK.

I go in there once a day and take a few hops. Don't be bashful stabbing the rudders when she starts to drift on a takeoff roll. A hard stab on the rudder will work quite well. Stab left and right as the need arises. Slow input will get you out of hand.

Shaping up really well. WT what system are you running. I'm running 1.2 AMD with a 64meg GeForce and I'm getting mid thirties..

Very good beta so far. Give it a shot.
