a guide to ICON's OFF in the TA...
« on: May 04, 2000, 10:24:00 PM »
Been having lots of fun with this.

ussually going to a non used field, everyone turns icons off and uses their wits and camoflage to outsmart their opponents.

It's progressed on some occasions to spits vs. 109s which makes for some fun, and some friendly fire now and then

so heres what I've found on an airplane only visual basis:

P-51: sticks out like sore thumb
P-38: sticks out like p51 but even worse
109s: blend good with darker terrain
190s: same as 109s
macci: blends great against a lot of terrain colors
n1k2: blends with green nicely at certain ranges
typhoon: oddly sticks out like p51  (it turns grey at distance)
spit 5: good camo
spit 9: less good camo but not bad
f4u: big sign that says: here I am

the icons off craze is catching on

its extremely more realistic.

loose sight loose the fight.

Right on Citabria!
It was awesome last night having a free for all in the TA at f13 with icons off! hehehehe I got out of my p38 and into a spit5 real fast!

It was a VERY INTENSE experience! the "pucker factor" goes wayyyyy up, because without them neon billboards, you REALLY have to sharpen your SA!

Try it guys! Besides me and Cita, ask Camel, Busc, FDace and several others who were in there last night doing the icon-off FFA about how much FUN AH can REALLY be!

Cit,
We had a blast last nite doing the Spit 5 vs. 109F4 match up with no tags.

It seems A16 and A27 work well for a no tags historical match up as the two fields a close together.

Anyway, the Musketeers are going to try to do this on a semi-regular basis.

BTW, it was blast and thanks to you and Kieren for coming over to join in on the fun.

Thinking of 202's and Spit 5's for the next no tags match up.

The FFA is a blast as well, but I like having the historicals.  You really have to get up close to ID before you can pull the tirgger.  Friendly Fire happened a few times last nite.
