Ok, I downloaded two (2) Betas, and everytime I get the initialization failure. Is this fixed in Beta 5? Because I won't spend 5 hours downloading something for nothing:p

People with older vid cards that do not comply with the system requirements have had this problem. I tried loading it on a p3 600 with an onboard intel 16mb vid card. No go.

Hmm.....

I have a Celeron 1.2Ghz with onboard Intel 8815 graphics. I play a LOT of other games (Flight sim, Combat Sim IL2) and they all work. Is there any chance that AH2 will work with all cards?

The MINIMUM requirement is g2 mx400.

Don't know if this applies, but I get the initialization failure if I try to use the 16 bit mode. The 32 bit mode works fine.

DX9 is what I am using, and getting about 75 FPS in the current version of AH, Flight sim gives about 25 in clouds.

the last thing is your drivers then. Not sure what is out there for that intel chip. Is their a newer version?

Well, I was there a week ago and updated them, no go.....

I really don't understand HTCs idea, why do you want to make the Video card do all the hard work?

many of the ppl i fly with in H2H use cheap computers (no offense) and don't want to spend the $150 for a good card. Almost all other games outthere use the CPU for calculating the flight dynamics, joystick input, and firing trajectories. Why don't you?

Outlaw I am flying the most recent BETA with a Geforce2 card and fps in the 50's at 10k at the default settings the BETA istalled with. (only alt I remember my numbers for as I dont leave fps counter running when I fly). Though surely would be nice to have, as of yet you just don't need that $150 video card.

(Geforce2 cards are practically free now $34.50 from newegg.com including 3 day fedex though for another 20 bucks you can get an even better one.)

They do: the only thing you can do with a video card is video work - no game out there including AH does flight dynamics or input resonse on the vid card: it's not possible.
The game requires 3D graphics. If the AH2 graphics engine doesn't work with your machine then the game won't work: which is what you are seeing.
As your machine is below minimum requirements I doubt anything will be done about it. You should be able to get a GeF2 MX for less than $60 inc shipping if you shop around.

Well, I just checked my settings.. yeah i know, it took a while

anyway this is what my computer has:

32 + 10 MB Intel eXtreme graphics
DirectX 9.0
Celeron 1.2Ghz CPU
512 MB of PC-133 RAM
2 gigs of swap space on two drives

60 GB ultra ATA-100 HD (two x 30gb)

I think it should run? no?

but I still get that damn initialization error.....

Have you tried selecting the 32 bit video option rather than the 16 bit version yet ?

I checked that too

still doesn't work. But I don't think it is b/c my computer can't handle it. I know for CFS3, my chipset will fail the check, but Microsoft has released a patch to make it work, and Intel's website tells you how to get around it too.

Anyone have any ideas?
