'The Slot' Frame 1
« on: December 06, 2003, 08:52:59 PM »
It was a tough battle for the Japanese.  They are up against tough opposition and have it tougher than the American side in my opinion.

that being said the kill ration was lopsided and the American's shot down more iron than the Japanese.  The interesting thing is that from the pics I have of the objectives it looked as if the Japanese had done more damage to the objectives.

One ship was lost - a Japanese CV according to the logs but .  And the American carrier suffered 2 hits but did not sink.

That being said here is the score

Allied

A10 - Estimated 75% damage 375 points
A30 - Estimated 50% damage 250 points
A3 -   Sunk one CV                   1000 points

Total - 1625 points

Japanese

A1 -  Estimated Damage 75% 375 points
P31 - estimated Damage 75% 375 points

Total - 750 points

A CLOSE frame in terms of objectives (which is what this event is about).  I was worried at first that some would flame me for this but after tallying the score I feel that it was anybody's frame in terms of points.  The Amercians did manage to sink a CV and the Japanese were <--> that close - if they had sunk the American CV they would have one the frame.

I was not and am not concerned with kill ratio's as there is no doubt that the IJN have it tough.  However the tactics used can overcome the weaknesses .. for example 1 formation of ju88's carries 6 torps .. that is a huge disadvantage for the Allied side as it takes 6 TBM's to carry the equvalent amount.  If I was an allied sailor I'd be wearing my lifejacket at all times .....

ALL!!

We were flying CAP over C3,  we had a 5 mile box around the CV in a stack formation.   After a while of this we incountered multiple cons to our high blind side.  Our highest stack was at 20k and down, the allied planes were well above us and went strait for the CV.  All F4U's and P-40's, don't know actual count but there were a lot of them.  We tried to stand our ground as long as we could, but nevertheless succumb to enemy action.  Sorry if we didn't hold our end of the duties but we were just overwhelmed.

CAP'ing a CV is a hard job - You did the best you could with what you had.

Arlo,

Frame 2 is this Friday 1100PM EST if you are interested get there about a 1/2hour early. You need a registered squad invitation to participate as a walkon. Consider this your invite.

Normally a squad has to wait for the START of the three frame event before being incorporated into the event.  Contact Ghostdancer (he is the squad-op team lead) and he will get you all sorted out.

How many are you expecting?
