I saved alot of data on CDRW disks where the CDRW disk acted just like a large floppy.  I set my files on two 700Mb disks.   I used Nero and InCD.

Well I load up Windows XP and guess what?  Doesn't recognize 80% of the data.  Well now Im pretty upset. So I take the CDRW disks to work and my damn CD-ROM there reads them just fine!  WTF??

So I hear about this UDF Reader I may need to help my system read these disks.  I looked all over for a UDF reader that may be compatible with Windows XP and my Lite-On LTR-16101B CDRW drive.  No luck.  A woman at work read my disk also.  She was using a different software package called Roxio or something like that.

Any clues?

If I remember correctly isnt being able to save like a floppy only supported by drives that support....uh Mt. Rainer i think its called.

If you have nero 5 patch to version 5.5 some of the earlier version willl not work correctly with Win xp.

You just need to update InCd to a newer version.  Nero (as San noted) also needs to be updated.

Forgot to mention I have Nero and InCD from two years ago when I bought my CDRW.

Could I read these files with an updated Roxio?

hey i got a CDR problem (well my CO does and he's without internet right now....

and i can't post new threads so may i do a teensy bit of hijacking?

he just moved and just booted up PC...

the CDRW drive just keeps opening then closing over and over and over and over...

i have never heard of this before personally but i would suspect something got bumped or dirty and the drive might be permentally damaged.

any thoughts??

JB73, if he has a spare computer around - tell him to simply plug the power cable of the second PC into the CD drive's power input, power on the second PC that is no suppling that drive it's power. Press the open button the CD drive unit. If it opens when the PC boots up, it will close it. So it needs to be opened once more and then closed by pressing that button. If it opens when the PC boots up, press the button to close it and then power down that PC and hook the CD drive back up to the original PC. Should be no need to remove it from from the case.

This is assuming it opens and closes and then opens once more, requiring pressing the eject button once more to do that cycle. If its doing it automatically, I don't know what to say.
