ok, whats with a radar that can see over mountains? if im in knight land, no way the bish can see what im doing. if he must he'd need a radar on top of the mountain, and if he does, i should be able to bomb it.( PUT A RADAR AT THAT UNUSED CENTER POINT OF THE MOUNTAINS. AND LET US FIGHT OVER WHO GETS TO SEE WITH IT.)
next : the compass spins the wrong way. so much talk about realism and im telling you it makes me crazy.magnetic compasses spin the opposite direction. and gyro compasses arent mounted on a spindle. beside only a few late war american and german planes even had gyro compasses. lastly i feel like im under attack by the star ship enterprise! and they are ignoring the prime directive. they will not leave me alone. i fly from field 24, fight a sortie, land at 23. grab a cup of joe while they are gasing me up. then i take off again ( since the fields look alike) only to realize in flight that scotty has beamed me back to field 24!. lease leave me where i land.

1. Spies?
2. The cockpit instruments are somewhat generic, I guess it will stay that way too. Hope we at least get metric on the right planes though.
3. I could not agree more. I also heard something before about "hot reload" zones being added to fields - where you park your plane and reload/refuel then takeoff again without exiting to the tower...

I like the radar idea in the center of the map.  Maybe they could have one per country to start, each a bit closer to the side which initially owns it.  They could defend it with ack and it would take paratroopers to capture it.  Each radar will only show planes in it's country.  You have to take an enemy's radar station to see planes on radar when over their territory.  It would make it worthwhile to fight over these stations.  It would also make for fights away from airfields.  The center of the map may bring all three countries together to fight it out.

Sounds like the Knights are finally starting to feel the frustration of arena play.

Welcome to the War!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I'm only going to comment on the DG thing...  First, the thing you see in the middle of your cockpit isn't a compass.  That's a directional gyro.  Either way, it spins the "right" way (which is opposite of what they move in real A/C).

I asked HT about this way back in the days of the Alpha, he said it was a compromise they were making for playability.  I understand why, I always make mistakes when I'm out practising compass turns.

Long story short:  I squeaked about it much earlier (before there were masses to squeak about stuff), and the answer was laid down.  Oh well, I can live with it, AH still rocks!

yes  i like the idea of hot zones on fields, i would like to take off from mid country climb to alt. engage enemy over his territory, turn around land at a newly captured field and gear up and get back into it, with out having to go to tower back at mid-field go to map change location and then fly.
Or maybe i get too impatient when playing?

this whole radar thing throws reality out of the window.  few planes even today have a map with a real-time God's-eye view of the action.  i don't mind radar, but the radar towers should give the planes periodic radio messages of where enemy planes are like they did in real life.  something like: "SHOWER, tower 5, contact ALPHA bearing 295, 300kts.  vector is 270.  probable hostile bomber."  also, if a friendly gets within visual range of a plane it's assumed they radio back to HQ, so you'd get messages like "SHOWER, tower 5, HiTech IDs BETA as hostile snub 190."  or "SHOWER, tower 5, NateDog reports GAMMA is down."  if radar is bombed of course you stop getting messages.

agreed Herc.  Lets have 3 big radar towers in the centre of the mountain ranges, about 5 miles apart from each other.

Have them heavily defended by ack, require troops for capture.

Only question is, I seem to recall that the mountains at the centre of the map are 20k high.  What's the operational ceiling of a C47A, 23,000feet?
