There are actually 2 separate problems with the MG, as follows:
  • When the turret is pointed straight ahead, the MG just vanishes when you try to rotate it over most of its arc.
  • When the turret is at other angles, the MG doesn't vanish.  Instead, it rotates relative to the turret about a different center than your POV rotates around.  So as you rotate the MG, it just moves out of your line of sight.

Other graphics problems with tanks
When you're in the main gun position, normally you can only see out the peep hole of the sight.  But when you rotate the turret all the way around, the turret vanishes when it passes through certain narrow angle bands relative to the direction of the hull.  When the turret disappears, you have a full-screen clear view except for the crosshairs that go all the way to the edges.  The angle bands (relative to the hull) where the turret disappears are as follows:
  • Tiger:  3-3:05, 4-4:30, 5:30-6:30, 7:30-8, 8:55-9, and 10-10:30.
  • Pz4:  5:30-6:30, 7:30-8, 8:55-9, and 10-10:30.

This seems to be dependent somewhat on head position.  The further forward you move your POV, the wider the angle bands in which the turret disappears.
