Been playing AHII beta for the last week, and I've got to say, WTG HiTech! It became very playable in it's latest beta version (1.996, I believe). I still have to use a bit of toe brake on take off and landing (at low speed), but that's how real planes were too. When taxiing, you use toe brakes to turn and track straight. And of course, there's still auto-takeoff for the faint of heart. Visually, this looks great and the flight model, while subtly different, is easy to adapt to.
Come give this a try. Yeah, they don't have all the AH1 a/c available yet, but it's still worth checking out if you haven't already.
