Could anyone tell me why my 2500+ amd cpu is regirstering as only 1.11ghz. isnt it like 1.83 or somthing stock?... Also anyone ever used V-Tuner or EasyTune4?.

You have to go into your bios and set up the clocking of it ..

new MB /cpu correct ??

I found out that half the problem was i had an outdated bios , i flashed the new verison of the bios with the extra settings. To set the clock i have something along the lines of cpu host clk enabled or diabled. I geuss this is the place im looking for but what is the correct setting for a stock 2500+ i think i have a range from 100 to 133 or somthin

here is the manual ect for your MB if you dont have one ..

read it thru carefully pay attention to jumper settings
(there maybe a FSB jumper)

Then go into the bios (ussually hold down Del key as it boots up)
set the fsb to 333 or click on optimal settings ...
this also depends on your ram speed also ...you need at least 2700 ddr for this.
I'm not familer with that mb but if you read thru the manual it should explain every thing for ya .

Ram wise i have Corsair 256mb XMS-2700 ddr,ultra performance.
On a side note have you used or heard or v-tuner or easytune 4

(im now at 1.82ghz, at 166 the highest option is 199)

Easytune 4 is a windows cpu clocking program isnt it ??

I havent used that one so im not familer .. i use wcpuid along with a different program ...
(note these programs can fry a mb, ram, cpu if you dont know what your doing with them )use this program to monitor what you have for now.

now as for setting up i would use the bios first and set it up to run a 333fsb so your 2500+ is running at 2.0-2.1 est or so

get a good baseline and the pc running stable first .
also monitor temp's closely .. the AMD site says 70-85 C for the cpu's but 50 C or less is what you really want for best performance .

easy tune tells me my cpu temp is 58c, giga v-tuner tells me 35c. im at 1.87 with 177 placed in the cpu clk.

The switch settings on that board only have 2 settings, 1 for 100Mhz and 1 for 133/166Mhz so you obviously have that switch right. Easytune4 can't do anything you cant do in BIOS settings so don't wast your time with it. Both your user clock speed and DRAM speed should be set to AUTO, the mobo will automaticly run them at the highest speed they can support. Example, my setup has ddr2100(266Mhz) ram but it runs at 413Mhz automatically. You cant change the multiplier or lock the agp speed on that board so only a very mild overclock is feasable.

The correct clockspeed for a 2500+ to run at is 1833 MHz (11 x 166). The front side bus speed should be set to 166 MHz, but if you've got it at 177 MHz and all is stable (you are overclocking the CPU and RAM by doing so) you could leave it alone.

(BTW: If you really do have the FSB at 177 MHz your CPU is going to be running at around 1947 MHz unless you changed the CPU multiplier, which I don't believe that board can do.)

I've got my 2500+ running at 12.5x178MHz for 2225 MHz processor. Thats a sort of 3200+. 2.2 GHz is 3200+ but nominal is 11x200MHz for 3200+. I can't get it to boot stable at 200MHz, despite my HyperX PC3200 RAM. I'll take what I can get.

When i booted up the pc at 177 the memory data on boot up changed from 333mhz to somthing like 370mhz. I didnt really know what i was doing and decided to place it back to 166 (333mhz). I had no problems at the higher setting i played ah for about 45 minutes before turning it back, But i decided i didnt no enough to go past stock, The pc isnt actually mine and i built it for a family member. I am ordering my own pc within the next week or so, i was looking at a similar set-up to this one but with the 9600pro, would a 400wattt psu be ok for that set-up?

i got the system stable at 2ghz its calling it a 2800, i had it a lil higher but it wasnt stable. ill sit on 2ghz i think

(im at 61c under my most harsh conditions at 2034.39(2.03ghz) am i right to stay therer or should i jump down a bit?)

61 is warm, but not critical. You can probably install a better heatsink/fan or a couple new case fans to reduce that temp. As for overclocking, the FSB is pretty much the only way to go with that board. You can play with memory timings and voltages if that floats your boat and see what you can achieve.

61c is hot .... especially if thats just the idle temp ... once you start gaming ect the temp ussually rises 2-4 c

you should be around 54c peak under gamming/ harsh conditions and idling 45-48c

note if you have a side case fan and its blowing outward its probely taking away the airflow from the cpu ... turn it around ..
also dont let it suck air in from the monitor
besides that your clocking should be fine.

my 2400+ oced to 2.1 ghz idles at 45-46c games at 48-52c
TT2 heatsink /fan and one side mounted case fan .

I would suggest getting a Nforce chipset in your next MB
