Beta 6 settings that ROCK for a dinasaur..
« on: December 14, 2003, 02:40:31 PM »
I'm REALLY impressed with this release. Ingame download was flawless.

NO stutters ( one exception ). A solid 41 to 43 FPS with four aircraft in close with drunks floating about from an old dinasaur toybox.

Only stutter was the first and second close-in pass for the "flyby" sound. After it was loaded, no stutters there either.

Vidio setup:

800x600
32 bit
75-80% on both sliders to the performance side
Max texture size 512
Bump mapping, transitions and dis palettized tex left "unchecked"

Nividia card maxed at 64 is runnin at about 34  :)

Dale's doin the magic. It can only get better. And this is only the 6th revision ??

Heheh

Just a question, I'm not sure if it works the same on all systems. Can you check how close you have to get to buildings, ack, etc. in order to see them please?
For most who have the sliders set more towards performance the buildings and some other objects don't show up until almost right up on them.
Your input would be appreciated :aok

I'll check.

If I'm correct it is a .bgminrenderrange issue. "Minimum render range" Setting determines when an object becomes visable. The farther out you see it, the higher the load on the vidio card. Shortening the distance helps older cards keep their FPS

Elsewhere it's adjustable with a dot command. Let me see what range I'm getting, and if the dot command for setting it is enabled.

Get back to you.

Not adjustable and at the above settings rendering is really too late if your cappin tool sheds.

Dropped the lower slider to 50% with a frame drop to 25 but the rendering is in time.

I'll mess with the top slider and see what that does.

nopoop, I could have sworn you were talking about a WBIII command there.
