Hi all,

Well another SSO is over, I will be posting results in a few days.

Please post your thoughts on this SSO.

I liked this "Operation Torch" very much. The setup was very good and there were any time 30-35 k enemies in the sky like in the earlier SSO's!

The 3rd frame when I was first time Axis Commander was very interesting and I strain it very much... how my plan is working and can I "command" my five Great Squads...

315 Polish did mens work and destroyed the V3 base with their 4 Bf 110's and ONE escort 109. It was my fault that V3 blinked before you came in, I didn't remember to inform LLv 34 that not to do it. I'm sorry any of you didn't came back to the home base altought I wait couple of you surviving...

But LLV 34's 8 pilots fight against 15-16 enemy fighters were very near from it (A35) so the blink-warning just happened. Thank you LLv 34, too, and mostly DB and Maskotti who killed many allied 'till the end of the frame.

56 Firebirds' all three Stukas (one discoed) came alive to home base and three escort fighters too. They also defensed A2 very bravely. Great work of war!;)

332 Vikings gave their all for Fatherland and I know they take very many enemies with them! Thank you!:)

Now I am very much wiser what CO must to do when leading his Squads.

I don't like target planing refering to each sides playerstrength.
With so much understrength 1:1,5 or 1:2 in frame 3 nobody
call a strike mission, all odds against us.

Please correct this in later SSOs

But overall SSOs is much more fun than stupid MA

On the issue that Loddar raises...

According to the logs

Frame 1, 34 Allies to 28 Axis
Frame 2, 28 Alies to 38 Axis
Frame 3, 28 Allies to 41 Axis

I guess this variation is due to "no shows". On this very small sample of three it could well be random which we might expect with no shows affecting each side roughly equally.

My question is whether something could be done in terms of controlling the size of each particpating Squadrons. Are Squads generally keeping within their declared numbers for SSO?

If they are not then maybe their limits should be adjusted so that at least when the teams are set up for an SSO we have a good chance of hitting the intended split of numbers.

Before each frame, if necessary, for a side that outnumber the opposition that side's numbers could be pruned down for any Squad who are over their quota. Perhaps transfer some to the other side?

In frame 3 the Allies were well out numbered and all Axis squads were within the allowed limits.

The Allies squads were mostly on the lower limit of attendance numbers.

So in order for the event to start I authorised AndyH to stike only one target, which he did try with a JABO aircraft.

So the planes that flew in the last frame were as I had allowed.

Sorry that no Allied bombers were used, but the only alternative was to postpone the event.

All allied pilots were acting as fighters in the first 30 minutes of the frame, to try to counteract the fact that we were outnumbered 1.5:1

My plan was working at the start, we didn't seem to lose too many at first contact so I ordered the strike to go ahead. Then the second wave of LW attacked, which I did not expect to happen so quickly. We were split between defence and attack at this point, which is exactly what I tried to avoid. I had planned on our light fighters sweeping ahead of our strike planes enabling them to get in unmolested, but we ended up with only two P40s performing this role as 101 and 880 were busy wiping their strike force out.

Six Allied fighters tried to bomb the target, three got shot down on approach, one got through and killed the barracks, then the last two ditched their eggs and faught it out near the target.

In the end we did better than I expected on air to air kills, but we didn’t do enough damage to the target.

I enjoyed COing the frame, even though I got damaged early on, although some of the guys I sent out on the strike mission were not too pleased.
