A Crawford County man was hospitalized Sunday with a gunshot wound to the neck, an investigator said. The man’s live-in girlfriend was arrested in the shooting.

Kenny A. Smith, 42, was admitted to a Fort Smith hospital in critical condition Sunday, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office investigator Sgt. Aaron Beshears said. No information on Smith’s condition was available Monday.

Beshears said officers were dispatched to Smith’s residence in the 400 block of Gregory Chapel Road in the Alma area about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, in response to a report of a disturbance. Before the officers arrived at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office received another report that a man had been shot.

Good post, reinforces my belief that our country has been in "nurturing decay" since the 1960's.  We've gone through a severe cultural change since the 1960's. Most of that change has taken parents away from raising their kids with good moral ethics and personal responsibility.

Armed citizens are a deterrent to a life of crime (hopefully) and I'm confident that America is getting back to "Family Values" that the 60's/70's culture contributed to the fleasing of America.

Big Jim's been drinking whiskey
Playing poker on a losing night
Pretty soon old Jim started thinking
Somebody's been cheatin and lying
So Big Jim comenced to fight him
I wouldn't tell you no lie
Big Jim done a-pulled his pistol
And shot his friend right between his eyes.

Handguns are made for killin
Ain't no good for nuthin else
So if you like to drink a-whiskey
You might even shoot yourself
So why don't we dump 'em people
To the bottom of the sea
Before some old fool comes around here
And wants to shoot either you or me?

Were the band members drunk and flying?  I can't find any info on it...just that the Band's plane crashed.

I didn't write the lyrics, so don't shoot the messenger.

Just repeating what a few good old boys thought about handguns.

Documentary I've seen implied the pilot had been drinking. Will look it up.

Dago,

Of all these people killed by guns, were they mostly career criminals, or were they just people who needed to be killed?
:p

The only reason for the crash that I can find on the net is that they miscalculated their fuel and crashed when they ran out. It's been quite a while since I saw that documentary but I'm pretty sure one of the survivors claimed the pilot had been drinking.

Pretty easy to avoid being killed when you break into someone's home.

Step 1: Don't break into anyone's home.

See? It's a simple one-step process.

Iron, IIRC, it was maryjane the pilots were using.

Long time ago though. The NTSB online database doesn't go back that far; you have to request it from them.

All handguns are made for killin'?

Really?

Pretty simplistic attitude, I think.

A lot of handguns are just made for fun shooting.

Oh, and there is a need for handguns that are made for killing. Just about every army has them, police forces have them....... and plain old simple citizens have a right to have them as well.

At least in the US. :p
