An interesting story... If you recall, the reason the battles looked so good in the last movie (and I assume the release tomorrow) was that each individual "soldier" was programmed how to fight but then they just set them loose on a battlefield and watched it happen.

Evidently, one of the more difficult aspects of this "logic" was making the soldiers idiotic enough to actually stay and fight.

Link didn't work for me. I've no idea why anyone would think it idiotic to stay and fight in a battle in order to win. Well, that's not true, I know there are a lotta women that would consider it idiotic.

If you're fighting a Nazgul or a cave troll, you might think it better to run.

If I am understanding this right then therein is the problem. Any soldier "fighting for himself" rather than a "cause" is certainly going to flee in the face of overwhelming odds.

All fights are matters of life and death.  

I've had dreams where sometimes I stay and fight, and sometimes I run...usually against overwhelming odds, like 30' generators hitting me with lightning bolts and paralyzing me.  That was the worst nightmare I recall, and even then I was almost stronger than the electricity.  I defied it to the point it almost killed me...so to speak.  This was in a futuristic setting where a flying saucer would be right at home.  (Too much TV!!!   )

I have never fought anything like Nazcul or cave trolls in these dreams.  I think I would be prepared for them if they ever showed up in a dream.  Don't know if I'd run or not.
