I agree on the type VII, most likely a C since the majority of 7s were of this type.

However, look at the water or lack thereof. Looks like a training Op between a TypeVIIC and a 'Milch Cowe'. They normally manned the guns during this time for protection.

If they are resuplying at the seas why wouldn't they be manning the cannon? I guess it would be part of standard procedure, or common sense at least.

 She is a Minelayer the tops of the mine shoots are visable along the sides of the boat flanking the preshure hull.
