A couple of questions
« on: September 27, 1999, 11:07:00 PM »
First off, it doesn't seem that the dot commands are there in the new Game Info section of the website.

Secondly I have a question about the view system.  Are the "snap/pan" views setup like they are in Warbirds?  Specifically, I have a CH F-16 Fighterstick that has one 8-way hat switch.  It is not a true 8-way though as it uses chorded combinations of the 4 directions.  In Warbirds this works fine since it recognizes keypad combos like F8&F6 to give a FR 45 view.  Will AH work the same way?  I have seen many sims keymap the 45s to the 1,3,7,and 9 keypad keys which makes them unusable on the CH stick.  How will this work in AH?

There are dot commands, similar (but not the same) to WB.

For the viewing options go and read

You may find you don't need the 8-way if you use the pan view to look around.

Thanks for the info glars.

I understand about the pan views, but all the same I am much more partial to the snap views even if they pan a little automatically.  I never much liked VCs and how they worked eg. WWII Fighters.  I had this same situation occur in that game where you could pan your view but all the 45 snap views were mapped to the corner keypad keys only.  This left me with only 4 views if I wanted to use snap views.  To me, that is unacceptable in a flight sim and I really hope that AH doesn't go down that path.  It was a big enough issue to shelve the game.  More view options is better, but don't do it for the sake of fixing what aint broke.    JMHO.
