Post AH Sound Collection Links Here
« on: December 19, 2003, 05:50:46 PM »
Hiya folks,
Been away from the game for several months taking care of RL situations, marriage, house, etc. So I haven't played in a good while.

OTOH, I'll be back in the game soon.

I have still been working on AHSM (AH Sound Manager 2.0) in spare time, which is almost never.

A lot of bugs were worked out in Beta versions, and the first non beta version will be 2.0.

WHat I need is sound collection links to include in the Online section of the program.

If you have some sound collection links please post them in thsi thread.

Thanks in advance.

Some features you'll find in Aces High Sound Manager:
* Store and view_ infinate number of files in AHSM, limited only by hard drive free space.
* Store and View up to 3 complete sets of files in ACES High for any given aircraft or vehicle at one time.
* Show Aces High and AHSM files in one view for each aircraft or vehicle.
* Folders categorized by country of origin for locating aircraft model sound files faster.
* Import, Export, and Sort sound files (.wav)
* Mute and Un-Mute active Aces High sound files.
* Built in .wav file player to instantly play and compare sound files
* Receive aircraft, vehicle, pop-up information including armament, fuel loads, dimensions, engine used.
* Transfer between folders views in a single click.
* Copy, Move, Delete, Rename, Archive Files, Extract Zip, and more.
* (Testing) Share files over a AHSM Peer-to Peer Network with other players.
* Storeroom for warehousing other sound files.
* Help file

Democracy is two wolves deciding on what to eat. Freedom is a well armed sheep protesting the vote.

For your information.  You can harvest and implement any sound from any game into any sound file in AH.
What u need is...audio in/out cable  $5.99 at best buy
A collection of flight sims for you puter.
  Windows sound recorder.
A sound editing program such as 'goldwave'  (shareware is free)
Say you are playing Il-2, and you think the sound of the 109 kicks arse.  You want to use that sound for your AH109.
  1.  get windows sound recorder (start/programs/accessories/entertainment/soundrecorder) onto your desktop.  Dont do anythign with it yet, you only get 60 seconds of record time.
  2.  Load the game that contains the arse kicking sound.
  3.  Get into a situation within the game where you can isolate the sound without any other noise pollution.  (I usually fly way off course).
  4.  When you isolate the kick arse sound and you are hearing it within the game, pause the game.
4b.  plug one end of the audio in/out cable into the 'microphone' jack in your computer, and the other end into 'headphone' jack.
  5.  Hit the 'windows' key to get to your desktop.
  6.   Press the record button on windows sound recorder.
  7.  Return to the game.
  8.  Unpause it.
You are now recording the sound that was blasting when you paused the game in step 4.  You can record for up to 60 seconds.
  9.  After at least 10 seconds return to windows desktop and stop recording, if it is still recording.
  10.  file/ save as/ e.g. il-2_109raw
You may have to alter your sound settings in control panel to get a clean sound.  For example, i had to decrease my 'line in' setting to about 15% to get a clean sound.  You can always increase the volume in the sound editing program.  Experiment, everyones system is different.
  11.  After you have a clean sound byte, you need to plug it in to AH format.
Im getting groggy so if anybody is interested, post and i will give directions on how to do that.

I hope to START playing with the sounds in AH. I just never really got going because it was a pain to keep switching back and forth the new sounds and the old sounds. When I found animal's sound manager, I was ready to go, but the beta was closed down   grrrr  So I'll post things after I have the time to get going on them again  :)

Keep up the great work Animal and friends !!!

Finding a new home to house AHSM, but here's a link to the last beta version. Someone said it didn't work but it worked for me. If it works you're welcome until I finish 2.0

Mitsu is the only one I know who managed to make a sound collection.   HT should give him his Frank just for that.

yea mitsus is a great start, but some of the engines are a bit anemic.  I am willing to forgo historical accuracy for a kickarse raoring 190 engine sound.  Or some thundering p47 .50's

Thanks Animal, but the link didn't work for me  :(

Thats mostly what I want to do with the sounds is to kick them up a notch! I added a touch of bass to the 50 cals on my hog and it really got the blood roaring to light them babies off !!!! LOL!!!

I just think some of the sounds lack a "fulness" and was hoping to add that in.... if I can find what missing that is  :)

Sounds are not avaiable at this time, but may be within the next 24 hours. I'm changing servers, or at least my storage, to my SBC Brief Case. http://briefcase.yahoo.com/stagemon60@sbcglobal.net

Once I upload the sounds you will be able to DL them from within AHSM. OR "AH Tech Hangar" at http://www.icongrp.com/~stagemon/ah/

A lot of things are changing, and have been for the last few months. But the dust should settle and I'll get 2.0 done and upload the sounds I have finished now. Then I'll be able work on several collections. I have some ideas as to adding prop wind noise to the engine sounds, things like that.

My goal is to have 2.0 complete and available by X-mas. I should have sounds posted before that day. ;-)

BTW, if you are making your own sounds, normalize the file volume, or if your software has it, set it to "Absolute 0". Both options are generally the same. This prevents remixing levels when changing sounds.

Yea..try the cfs1 p47 (hi rpm xternal) for the pratt and whitney planes.  (p47's-f4u's and f6f's).  Try speeding the file up about 25%, it really starts to hum.wish I could post attachments, it would be alot easier.
