What is this place...
« on: December 20, 2003, 11:27:59 PM »
A loooong time ago, I flew AW at GEnie.  I haven't flown online since then ('91?).  Got the itch again, and found this and 'the other place.'

It looks to me like this is the spiritual successor...  yay or nay?

Any others from the prehistoric era still around?

you'll find a ton of people from the AW series who live here now (myself included, from aw2 to aw3 on EA, but since been here)

Aces High seems to boast the best ww2 flight sim population

Welcome to AH, if you like AW youll love it here :)

You're in the right place dondo.  I'd say a majority of serious FR, scenerio, and events people from AW are here...quite a few of the RR crowd too.  Im from AW4W era, but i can think of a few from the genie era that still fly.

400 people online in a single arena pretty much says it all - the competition range from about 9 in Warbirds to about 150 in Fighter Ace.

Lots of GEnie era types here. Most that came here early made jumps from AW to WB to AH as soon as the "new, improved" ones were available.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

This is what AW would have evolved into had not the Evil Ones bought it

I'd say there are dozens of GEnie AWers here - most importantly, Hitech and Pyro.

I am a Genie - Delphie AW'er (man that was awhile ago) This game blows AW out off the sky. Different learning curve but once you get it you can't get enough. :) Us prehistoric people will be looking for you.

The "evil ones" were surprised when 3 developers rewrote "Pong" in Java over a 2 week vacation and in a year outproduced Airwarrior in revenue for the "evil ones" online unit..
When the "Evil ones" are done with the tax right off they will sell it or license it, and by that time it will truly be worthless due to age...
 Long live Pong!!!!
