Found this on CD Mag's site.

A VERY pretty in game shot of a F6F Hellcat in Microsoft's new Combat Flight Simulator 2000.

Has to be the prettiest texturing I've seen in a flight sim so far.

Figured you guys wouldn't mind taking a look at it.

Looks fully anti-aliased. Expect it to look nice, but not that fast, and not cheap   (I'm not too knowledgeable about new cards any more, but I think the new Voodoo 4 & 5 support on-the-fly anti-aliasing.)

Still, shows you just how fast sims are progressing. What, a year and a half ago WWII Fighters was the best looking WWII 'sim', and this...

Nice indeed.. but like all MS products, I bet it will look nice , have an unthinkable amount of bugs, be over-marketed and finally, be just another arcade product.

AH can match that for all practical purposes by improving their texture maps.

the other reason it looks so good is that massive polygon count.

Im more impressed with the look of the enviroment then the plane(which is nice but how often in the game do we see a plane at that range.)

Yes, it looks very pretty.  On the flip side though, I'm sure that most everyone here would rather sacrifice a little bit of eye candy for more fluid gameplay.  My experience with the previous version of MSCFS is that the flight models are pretty arcade like, and the game is pretty choppy during tight corners regardless of your hardware specs.  Sure it's a fun game, with tons of eye candy that looks nice on the outside of a box, but gameplay and realism are lacking compared to AH.  (When I used to play M$ CFS 98 my favorite tactic was to hang on the prop all day long, because you hardly ever stalled.  I also remember outturning 109E's with a p51d.    The AI in MSCFS 98 is truely lacking compared to even the newest newbie in here.)

Just my $.02 worth anyway.

I wonder how feasable it would be to have a set of HI-RES textures for the aircraft in AH.

I know I'd use em.

The c205 is ABSOLUTELY beautifully modeled.  Under a v770 ultra at 32 bit color, can you say WOW!    (Can't wait to get a look at the c202.)
I have to say, that except for a few minor graphics issues on the b17, all the planes in this game are wonderful.

When ever I am flying wing to a 205 I spend way to much time looking at it.  The spit, 109 and corsair are very well done as well.
Compared to those newer models the pony and 190 are starting to look a bit dated. Of course we will all take new planes for touch ups to older ones.
of course the 38 and b26 are masterpieces too.
