Joystick,Throttle,Rudder Pedals

A friend of mine would like to get back into Flight Sims and has asked me to get him a setup to use with the computer I just built him.

He'd like the whole works, but wants rudder pedals not a rudder controled on the throttle or joystick. All USB is a must.

I was looking at the Saitek X-45 and some CH USB rudder pedals. Any other ideas out there that might be better? He'll be using it for all types of flight-sims and flying games.

I use the cougar but have been hesitant to recommend it since I think it would be overkill for him.

i use saitek x45 with ch pro peds..works great for me. Pretty reasonable price for that setup. Think several others in here use same setup too.

Depending on what he wants to spend; I got the whole CH setup at a rough cost of $350, pro pedals, Fighterstick, and Throttle.

The recommendation came from a guy in our squad that has been doing online SIMs for many years and from going to Oshkosh EAA and seeing CH as the premier flight sim Eq provider. Definitely worth the money. Haven't had them long but hear they last forever...

I have the X45 with USB CH Pro Rudders.  It works great!  

But someday I will have the CH Fighterstick and CH Pro Throttle!!

I have been through three Saitek X-45's in two years and went back to my old CH USB Fighterstick and Throttle pro and standard analog CH  pedals (which I like better than the pro pedals).  I use a Radio Shack analog to USB adapter for the pedals.  I would never have switched from my CH gear but the handle is harder for me with short stubby fingers than the X-45's handle.  I've had both analog and USB CH fightersticks and have never had any problems with them in over 8 years of use.

PS.. If money is the object, then the Saitek X-45 combo is best in the short term.
