Any chance of dropping the AC country identifier (chess symbol) and simplifying the AC type..........(as many, but not all, are)

Lose Spit 14 for Spit
Lose La 7 and La 5 for La ( or Lav)

etc

It would also make map viewing less cluttered if the chess symbol Icons were replaced by colours.

how would you know who you are fighting then?

shoot somone down then autopilot to scan the roster for their name.

bad idea IMHO. not with a 3 country front.

now if you did a seperate color for each country (ie color adjust in icon setup for country 1,2,and 3) then you could get rid fo the chess piece.

Loose Spit 9 for Spit
did i miss something. when did HTC implement this? AHII beta 7? in the AH MA currently there is only "spit" and you cant tell which it is.

if so GREAT. alot have been asking for this for a LONG time. myself included. i'd love to be able to tell if its a spitIX or V im fighting.

for those of you "realistic" dweebs out there.... IRL if you came across a spit it depending on the year you could  generally tell which it was. in the MA anyone can fly any era plane they choose. lost of match-ups that would never happen IRL.
I don't know what to put here yet.

My appologies currently AH identifies the Spit 14 and  and I would like all spits sub identities to be a function of  camo not icon........also re the la 5 and La7.

Basically I dis agree with you here........... in the Ma now the spitV and Spit IX are distinguishable by camo design.

sry but my monitor doesnt show that level of detail (geforce ti4600 128mb and 17" viewsonic running 1024x768)

at the usual 300-500 yards out (generally the closest i get to a spit) you can not tell the difference of the paint job.

sry i dont have a 96" panoramic IMAX video moniter.

in this thread:
http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=103916
there are pics of 3 spits. to have identical camo looks like to me. other than the prop can you see the difference?

also this is a major close up view from above where you can see the camo. what about from behind (like normally in a fight)

oh well just my lame thoughts.
or another thread to ignore
or the original 2
or whatever you want it to be
I don't know what to put here yet.

There should be a big, pink, flashing sign saying LA-7

I dont care wat info ht decides to provide but imho the icons should be 1 line

is

Country symbol, plane type (109), range (1k = 1k; above 1k = 1.5; below 1k = .8, .6, .4 etc......

The double line Icon makes for a huge billboard.

Ideally just general plane type is fine. However, the perk farmers shouldnt be able to hide behind their icon. Perk planes should always have their full designation included in their icon.

More flexibility on the CN side would be great for events.

ie... Host setting; no icons; type only, range only, country only etc... Plus more variety in setting icon ranges.

Also seperate icon settings for gvs and planes.

You have much the same set up as me. (better as my monitor is porked and has to run with Max gamma)

However the spit V is strikingly obvious by its brown green camo. Admitedly the 9 and the 14 uses the same camo and is only distinguishable by the squad and pilot markings..........

But then how do you tell a g10 from a g6?

The one line could now be very possible given the new 200 yard accuracy limit.

Spit 0.2
109 3.5
Lav 1.2
190 2.5
Hur 1.0
Tem 5.5
B17 4.0
Lan 3.0
Il2m 0.8

If we should keep the Spit XIV designator then why don't we add they model type to all the 190's and 109's and everything else that has a variant out there?  I say we do what Selector said only use a colored dot for enemy aircraft and there range.

I think that'd make for some interesting dogfights to say the least.  Better know what your engaging before you stick your nose where it doesn't belong.  It'd be a little bit more intense too once you realize you've bitten off more than you can handle after getting a close up visual.

I would also like to see some custom skins involved too.  And before I get hammered on this let me explain why.  We have so many squadrons out there that fly under the designations of a real world squadrons in WWII.  By implementing the customizable skins to a particular unit you'd then know who your going against. That is ofcourse they stand true to there units and fly there planes almost exclusively.   And if you don't know the paint scheme then you need to do some research on particular units color schemes.  Add a little history lesson into the game we all love to play.  Ofcourse these skins would have to be approved and downloaded purely from the Hitech website for use.

I just currently feel that it's not as immersive as it could be.  It use to bring chills when I'd run into an enemy.  Now it's just another engagement everytime.  They need to find ways to draw us in deeper to the game.  TOD is a good start but I don't think many will get the fun they seek out of it.  Flying against AI just doesn't seem all that appealing other than the fact that it's mission based.  My 2 Cents

I'm glad so many can identify planes by looking at them on a monitor and they should go ahead and turn their icons off if they want, I on the other hand can't tell 1 plane from another at a distance of 500 and need the icons. It amazes me that people can make out that kind of detail when I play at 1600x1200 with a 19inch monitor and still can't see much difference.

couldnt have said it better.

sry all but icons need to stay. in fact personally i really dont like the new range system. maybe ok for above 1k but below soo many times you are in a fight and somone is either 600 in front or behind you.

without the range indicator moving a 30x30 pixel image on your 2D monitor does NOT give you a sence of movement. i dont care what you say. i have played with super high resoulitions (1600x the highest i have personally tried). a 2D monitor just doesnt cut it.

if your so good at telling distance in this game try this. set up an H2H with a buddy. just you and him alone in an arena. go into a dogfight with him with icons off. keymap vox to your stick so it's easy to key up and call out the range you believe, and weather you are gaining and losing ground as much as you can. film this flight then post it to show how "accurate" you are watching a few tiny pixels on a screen.

oh well thats it.. im not going to get into an argument with somone over what we "think" is right in a game. just wanted to express my moronic thoughts on the topic.
I don't know what to put here yet.
