I had an e-mail address and a phone number in the CheckSix.Net inbox, and with the forums closed there's no way I can retrieve them.

Would it be possible to allow me access to my inbox? Or, if not, open the forum long enough for me to retrieve my mail?

Thanks in advance.

I really don't want to get into further debate boxboy, in spite of the breathless anticipation with which I await your every post. Let's not get this thread locked too...or at least wait until I get my e-mail addy's and phone number I need.

Thanks.

I may open them back up in a few days.  I am reviewing how I'll do it if I do.

I really didn't think we had the porn problem you claimed we did.  If I intervened with the admin-cloak..people complained.  Most of the "fires" that would incur moderation here put themselves out on my system.  I'd asked, and the Acceptable Use Policy, clearly stated no pornographic images.  Some would di it anyways, people would tell the poster to remove them, and for the most part, the audience shamed the poster into compliance.  Peer pressure seemed to keep things fun and those that strayed the rules tended to correct themselves.

As much as this pains me, MiniD is right.  Once it got posted once and didn't receive an instant deletion, some seemed to think it was "ok".  Funked had a good idea, if you are going to post stuff that's off color, use the "not work safe" prefix.  But that didn't really work out in the end

What it comes down to, Airhead, is when and if I re-open, now what?  Will it allowed to be a fun system again?  We had some pretty hilarious threads in there.  Or perhaps we'll do the same ole thing, but be more vigilant on those who post smut.

Or maybe I'll really fark with you guys and have MiniD moderate that area  :p

I'm open to ideas on re opening, Airhead.  I just need some input on how to appease your complaints.

I found a very good reason to delete porn / not to post porn.  Hawklore and any other posters on the BB that are under 18.  As for naughty posts and "not work safe" stuff in the future (possible future), just make a specific forum for it and have a notice pop up when you access that forum stating it isn't for kiddies and that it's not a good idea to look at it while at work.

As for moderating, if you open it back up just tell everyone you'll moderate whatever you feel like from now forward and that anyone who doesn't like it can feel free to go elsewhere.  No one has ever thought you've over-moderated, they just thought you were going against what you said the board was about...at least that's what it looked like to me.

Oh, and just ban Airhead from the start and don't give him the # he's looking for.  Screw him and his sissy martini drinking arse. :p

LePaul...he is looking for Sapphire's e-mail addy and telephone number I think, you better get him access again otherwise he will miss out on a whole lotta important stripper stuff.

;)

Just kidding Airhead...but you need one shot as you brought up my name over at AGW and the thread was deleted before I could get access to those boards and respond.

I really have good social graces man, honestly...they just tend to go away when confronted by such awesome graphic porn.

Oh, and ban Curval too unless he agrees to change his handle on your board to either "Chip" or "Super Jizz".

*Unsolicited advice warning*

If you on the one hand want a respectable website your family, customers, and friends can frequent, you'd better decide what image you want presented to your family, friends, and customers. Decide what "respectable" means in that context and that's your target.

Personally, I was beginning to have serious problems visiting at all, and this was before the latest porn incident. I don't mind open debate, but a porn haven holds no interest for me in the least. That's not YOUR problem, though... and I am a big enough boy to stop visiting on my own without asking you to change anything. I'm not asking that now, for that matter.

Here's where I think you blew it, though... you didn't maintain a proper "distance" from the board patrons. What I mean is, for you to have any authority, you need to maintain a certain emotional distance from what goes on. That way when a violation occurs you don't have to consider who it is, only what was done. Your decisions will therefore be more impartial. In addition, you can't allow yourself to cross the lines (and you did), then expect people to jump into line when you blow the whistle. You're just one of the guys then, and that's how you'll get treated.

It won't matter what rules you put in place if you continue to put yourself in the place where you cannot enforce them. AND... if you take comments personally and expose your buttons, there are too many guys who derive entertainment by pushing them.

Boards don't self-police; you'll have to take an active hand, like it or not. You're going to have to be the bad guy. You're going to have to draw the line and protect it. It's a pain, and if you don't feel up to it, don't do it.

Dude just open it and moderate however the hell you want to.

No matter what you do, people will think you are too obscene, or otherwise opressing them.

Private messaging and mailbox still work (even with the forum closed).
