In the AP voting announced Monday, the Kobe Bryant saga received 30 first-place votes for 616 points{Law and Order story}, beating out Lance Armstrong's record-tying fifth straight Tour de France title (19 first-place votes, 540 points){Actual sports story}, the Florida Marlins (news)' surprising World Series (news - web sites) win (12 first-place votes{Actual sports story}, 536 points) and Annika Sorenstam (news - web sites) becoming the first woman in 58 years to play on the PGA Tour (seven first-place votes, 473 points.{Actual sports story}

How can we trust the news media on anything if reporters can't tell the difference between sports and the legal system?

OJ's trial was not a sports story, it was a murder story.

Kobe's legal problem is a crime drama, not a sports story.
