Scores:

1. Plunkett & McClane (awful movie, unbelievable soundtrack.  Ever heard an amazing piece of music in a movie trailer that you never saw anywhere else?  Probably from this movie.  Look for 'plunkett escape' on P2P)

2. The Mission - Ennio Morricone

3. Star Trek II (Khan) - James Horner

4. Star Trek VI - Cliff Eidelman

5. The Hunt for Red October - Basil Poledouris

Aw geez, there are so many more....

For compilations, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Hackers and Forrest Gump.

Great list!

So, if it's film scores then it's:

1.  Star Wars  (John Williams)
2.  2001: A Space Odyssey  (J/R Strauss etc)
3.  Enigma  (John Barry)
4.  Lord of the Rings
5.  Dune  (Toto)

Compilation style

1.  Saturday Night Fever
2.  The Wedding Singer
3.  Electric Dreams
4.  The Committments
5.  Rocky Horror Picture Show

Best War film score (apart from Enigma!)

Das Boot!

Did you buy your CD with a black and white cover from a guy named Al at the race track?

They were not on the cassette version...  I still have the cassette, somewhere...

Errrr....The Right Stuff?  I didn't see that listed.  But, damn, I hope I am wrong.  That was a great combination of original and classical songs.  I have never listened to Mars, God of War by Holst the same way since.
