Jstick Mapping?
« on: September 28, 1999, 11:17:00 PM »
Can someone please post a concise explaination of how to map my F-16 Combatstick?  The AH joystick mapper does nothing, I'm stuck with left/right/back/up.  Nothing I do changes those settings, I'm flying half blind.

If you have a CH Combat stick, don't mess with the in-game mapper at all, neither joystick nor keyboard.  Just use the CH programming utility Speedkeys to put the various keyboard commands onto your CH's buttons.

Of course, to do this, you have to know what AH commands are assigned to which keyboard key.  So go into the keyboard mapper and write down what all the default key mappings are.  Be sure to use all the buttons to see the commands, there are 4 pages of them as I recall, of different types.

There is a list of the default key commands on the web page.

--ra-- I have a Warbirds Speedkeys that works
great with the views. Just needs alot of fine
tuning for the new stuff and for some of the different keys used.. I'll email it tonight if you like. I makes a good base to start with.
fyi: I use a Pro throttle combined with an F-16 Fighterstick.

Well I'm back.  Speedkeys doesn't work on my machine, it says it can't find my Joystick.  Maybe it's because I'm running Win98 with the latest CH drivers.  My CH driver is 2 years newer than Speedkeys.  Is there another way to map these steenkin keys?

You could try here for an older utility called joystick Control Center that allows you to remap keys in W95. Don't know if it'll work in W98 though

LOL, I must appologize for the others ra, to use Speedkeys you have to either have a Pro Throttle or F16 Fighterstick. If you have the Pro Throttle, then you can program your Combat Stick with it.

Culey,
Two things, (A) you need a Pro Throttle for Speed Keys (makes a world of difference) (B) you might want to get an CH Products Auto-III gamecard.
I went thru weeks of heck with CH trying to figure out why speed keys would only work sometimes. After getting the gamecard & tuning it, all is A-ok.

Now for all you CH Product users here is my question:

I have all Ch stuff, Combatstick,Pro Throttles & pedals.

I have changed my stick scalings for days now. I can get off the ground (most of the time) I can go up real good. If I think of rolling over (spins) If I dive more than 2-3K I lawndart. Total loss of stick control.
I have my stick currently set at 50-70 on pitch and roll & 25-50 on yaw. This seems to keep me in the air barly, but if I try to drive in on someone, it kill tera-firma time.

Any Ideas?

Oh yeah, I fly Aw3 and everything works fine.
(cept there are to many Bz)
