AW vs AH

I just signed up for some beta testing.  Haven't been up on line yet, but did some cruising around off line.

As an Air Warrior Junkie for three years now I can tell you that many many players would have left long ago had Warbirds no had an hourly rate.  Many are currently looking for a new home now.   I got into this because a squaddie sent the link out through our squad news letter.

Our criteria is pretty simple.  Is it fun?  Is the difficulties we have had with GS severs going to be gone in AH?  Is it fun? Are the flight models fairly accurate?  Is it fun?  Do we have to put up with aircraft that have been "adjusted" for play balance?  Is it fun?  Basically we want to have a good time with WWII planes that bear a resemblance to real planes.  So far That seems to be what I've seen.
Most AirWarriors I know will pay more on a flat rate if it means better more responsive customer service and fewer problems with weird plane capabilities and warps.
But right now, In AirWarrior there are whole arenas that are empty, or nearly so, because Kesmai won't listen to the players and give them what they want.

Andrew? Why don't you go somewhere else with the sim bashing and comparison baloney.
If you are bitter? Fine. Who really cares?
Take it up woith those you are disgruntled with.
Just beta and then fly Aces High and enjoy it. Leave WB's, AWier and FA out of it.

GEEZUSSS Curly, chill!!!

there was NOTHING in that post that doesn't belong here.

He is informing HTC what he (and a lot of other people) dislike about AW (and WB).  he's not bashing it that much.

If his criticisms were completely off base (like if AW didn't hack the planes for 'playability reasons' all outta proportion), then maybe I could see slamming him.

chill dude.

Hey I am chilled Ouch.  Seen too many of
these on AGW turn into a pissing contest and
was hoping to nip it in the bud.
The post is a 'whine' about not having what
he wants over at XXX because the people at
XXX don't listen to the customer base and
won't fix XXX implement XXX or add XXX (read:
B-29) and so to hell with XXX at XXXX.

Curly, ligthen up.  They guy said in his post he was completely new and the post itself was reasonable as these things go.

He probably has no knowledge of the ruthless threads here or in AGW and so, deserves a little slack and politeness as a new member of the community, okay?

Strange I read Andrew's post as a compliment.

And  he pretty much states our disign criteria.

Andrew, I'm not sure how long you've been flyin' AW, but keep in mind, there was a time when there were no online multi player fighter simms.  AW brought it to us then and I'm sure they're doing the best they can  can now to please the most players and maintain the revenue necessary to bring it to you.  They're currently working on a newer version of aw...Jet Warrior... as well as a newer version of the wwII flight sim game..due out 3rd quarter 2000 according to kesmai.  I'm not really sure what u expect from kesmai for $10.00 a month.  I can remeber $300.00 bills to play aw on genie and as long as AW remains flat rate I will always support them, whether or not I sign up with AH.  The amount of enjoyment u get out of aw far exceeds the 10 bucks and anyone that disagrees with that is nuts as far as I'm concerned.
Now, my intent here is not to bash ur opinion, but I would simply ask u, or anyone else who would express the same opinion to take a moment to consider what ur getting for ur 10 bucks and how much it would suck not to have had it.  Quite simply, if we the players don't support these people by being willing to pay a fair rate for their services, they will simply go away leaving you and I wishing they were back.
If AH is a good sim then I'm more than willing to maintain both AW and AH accounts.  Now if I could only get my AH to work so I can find out

ps.  No, I dont work for kesmai

I took it differently and well.... all of you
took it otherwise so I figure I must have been off base.

 My apologies Andrew. Honestly.

Comparisons between other games seem inevitable, but please try to refrain from them.  Judge AH on its own merits and problems.  There's no need to denigrate other sims, whether intentional or not.  That's not productive and not keeping with the spirit of this message board.  This is not a forum to complain about other games or to tell us how much better everything else compared to us.  That's not the constructive feedback we're looking for.

Greetings,  I am Andrew.
I have changed my user name to my callsign in the game.

My apologise for having stirred up a hornets nest.  Also I give apologies for not getting back to you all sooner.  The last few days have been hectic and exhausting.

My intentions were in no way to "bash" AirWarrior, a game that I generally enjoy, as far as games are concerned.  I can asure you that if I had been in "bash" mode the invective that would have been posted would have fried monitors.  So, I won't go any further in that direction.

My regards to Curly.  I too have little truck with whiners and am inclined to think that if you really don't like something then leave.  I am contemplating doing just that with regards to Air Warrior. (while I enjoy it as a game I do have my pet peeves with it).

I was just trying to learn wether I was going to find, in Aces High, the same annoyances I had with Air Warrior.  If I am then why leave Air Warrior?  If not, then maybe I have found a new place to play.

My main question was genrally answered by HiTech back there. But, I still would like to know if aircraft in this sim are adjusted for "play balance"?

Pyro,

Though I agree with the position of not comparing one sim to another and bashing this vs that, however I will often compare AH to WB simply because WB is my point of referance.  I don't mean any harm but for a lot of us it is a good baseline for comments about AH.

I to agree that sim bashing should not be done, but sim comparission will go on no matter what. I started in Airwarrior III and once I was good enough to do what ever I whished I went to Warbirds. Now that is where Im at I still catch way to many bullets and dont give as many as I should, need to get much better. I may or may not ever quit Warbirds I can afford to pay for both games. I will say though that if I start playing Aceshigh more then Warbirds I will reduce my account with IEN. Hotseat seems to be doing alot on new things to Warbirds which is only going to make Hitech and gang stay on thier toes. Warbirds is top dog right now its up to ACESHIGH to raise the notch and then let the fight begin for online players. I personally dont think Warbirds will dies it has a large following I for one love it. I also like to see new things happen and ACESHIGH is it for now.
