Yeah, I caved in. But he did complete a 150 page work book during the summer months (one of the "requirements" for the Xbox), and his reading time has increased from 45 min. a night to 1 hour.

So there, its off my chest.

lol you caved man.

I almost did too this year, but a friend of mine gave me an old PS1 and when I loaded up a game it was clear that even my oldest was still a bit young for it.  He just wants to watch me play.
I tried the two player setting in Diablo and he still wasn't interested.

Saved me a few bucks this year.

Next year he will get whatever I want...PS2 or XBox...depends on the games that are out then.

The challenge is keeping him reading that hour a day now that he has it.  :)

Good luck, good to see that there are still parents that don't believe in raising their kids with a CRT.

I read a book a day, plus 2 or 3 newspapers and usually, a magazine or two.  AND still have time for a job, family and playing stupid computer games.

I'm an average reader of about 200 wpm more depending on the word size and if the grammar is correct..

Do not be so stupid, I enjoy reading and read books for enjoyment not for the ability to say I read this fast hahaha.

I read to enjoy and if your going to make fun of me just because I've probabally made a mistake then do so but do not openly voice your opinion.

From that OTHER board, posted 12/27:
Quote

OK, got the XBOX, four controllers, Project gotham racing, a basketball game, Dead or Alive 3 (fighting game), Mechassault, Splinter Cell, and (in the box) Starwars Clone Wars/Tetris.

First - its great getting things behind the curve - all the games were used and between 10 bucks and 15 bucks.  :)

Second - its a completely different gaming experience than the PC.  I think its a bit more fun than the MoHAA multiplayer games we set up, 'cause we're all in the same room, and we have spectators that can yell and scream with us.  :)

Whether its 2v2 basketball or 4 player racing or tag team martial arts fighting - the house is FILLED with laughter and happy screaming.  Occasionally a dispute breaks out, but not for long!  We're having a BLAST and I hope it continues.  I am very glad I made sure most of the games supported 4 players.

Heck, they even worked out how to take turns in most of these games when more than 4 want to play (i.e. ME :)  and do it in a fairly orderly fashion.

Fun fun stuff.

:)

And my 9 year old is reading War and Peace - though he says its SO BORING :).  He just picked up the biggest book in his classroom he could find.

Like I said, do you enjoy the book? can you remember things from the book? Or do you just read it to read it?

Plus I only read at night, and it's slow reading at night..
