Aha! No worries Eagl, after those JG 14 years I couldn't wing with drex in any type of tournament. Him in that big green reefer-47 I'd have JG 14 flashbacks and be shooting him every sortie.

"Man, that 47 must not see me he sure ain't trying to evade..." 8)

Eagl, a potential favor to ask of you. A very good friend's Brother is graduating USAF academy. He's going to flight school and of course wants to shoot bad guys down. Apparently he's got something like 1 year to get his basic certifications on his own before he reports for 'official' training?

Anyways, what are the odds of him coming out to see you for a long weekend, getting some gouge on what to be prepared for, buying you and your squadronmates lots of beers, etc.?

In my experience it always helps to be 'comfortable' with the people who are what you want to be (also helps alot with motivation when things get toejamty during the 'want to be' times). Let me know...

...he seems to be a good kid. I'm sure he'd be all ears when hanging out with you guys.

Does this friend's brother know what base he'll go to for UPT?  If it's Sheppard, then I could probably get him some stuff to look at.  If it's Laughlin or one of the other bases, then he's probably better off checking there because we do things a little differently here due to the NATO presence.

Either way, the club is open to pretty much anyone, and I could give him some dates that might be rather more interesting than others    Every few weeks we have an assignment or graduation night and the club gets busy on those Fridays.

Eagl,

Anything would be great. I was thinking of a weekend of buying beers for F-15 drivers in homage to his hopefully soon to be Elders/return for you guys passing on some words of wisdom born of experience (i.e. what the big 'crash landings' are, what to study super hard on, etc.).

Just exposure to you guys so he loses some of the hero worship/up on a pedastal factor and can more easily visualize doing it for real ("Man, old Eagl sure is ugly...if I'm that much better looking than there's NO WAY *I* can't fly fighters!"). 8)

I'll get more information from the kid and pass it on to you.

Yeager,

Yes, book signing offer was from me. If you need my address again email me at mdb7779@home.com.
