Hey we have many new members that are newbies.
What can I say.
I feel that the P-38 If flown right is a kick butt plane.
I like to use it as a heavy fighter but for Dog fighting in it I SUK!!!

So for me I think that the P-38 is best left to those who want to learn how to fly it:)

Lefty and I got the 2 guys separated and went to town pouncing the one guy we had by our self.  Hey did a great job in that “POS” P-38.  He managed to drag us both down to the deck and blow all of my much needed E in my Dora. I was so close to him most of the time I could see him working his flaps and rudder, but I couldn’t get my nose on to fire a shot. I finally got a good H/O on him while he had the La-7 on his 6 but dang, it was a good fight. There was no crying on channel 1 about the stupid dweeb H/O dork that just shot me down..  By the way, his wingman,  the one we thought was killed by the other 2 ship in our flight swooped down at about 600KIAS and nailed me as I was making my victory roll over his chute..  Lesson here,  in the right hands the P-38 is a great aircraft that should be respected when above you or has an E state better than yours. The aircraft you dont see is the one that is going to kill you every time reguardless of what type it is.  I hate to say it, but its not the plane that kills you it’s the pilot.  By the way Ak-Ak, I am looking for you. I will be at 30k all for the next week in my Dora.  I have to land an Ak-Ak kill.

Long story short,  dosent everyone have to much time on their hands if the only grip to yell about on the bbs is which planes suck the most.

Sorry about that, it was just a thought from a guy who is bored at work..  (S)

Man this story sounds familer.  'Cept the P-38 threw an when he took the HO.  But afterwords the 38 said that the dora did some nice agressive flying so the HO was no biggie.  And was only dissapointed the la7 didnt lose any parts getting pinged up.

Murdr in a P-38?  You've got just as much chance of seeing that dweeb in a P-38 as you do seeing me on the deck.

ahh the gig is up. Truth reveiled. Althought before I turned Knight that same knight I ended up flying with ya akak, you were on the deck. So, once again I will have to execute some more investigation. Damn you jerks, sarcasm always gets me.

Ok, just now reading backwards, I noticed some squeeking from the peanut gallery.
To me any pilot that can take a fight with 2 higher faster bogies, with 4 more in vis, and fight the 2 across 6 kp points in 2 sectors, from 20k to the deck (without a panic dive), and then tangle with the 2 on the deck for a couple minutes, and only allow a HO, they must be doing something right :p  I could have done more than just ping the la7 twice, both times I would have instantly picked by the dora if I persisted.  At any rate, akak and silat both heard me call out the end game way before it happened.
Vox
Murdr: damit, im STILL alone with these 2 guys trying to tag team me
Silat: where ya at murdr?
Murdr: #,#,kp1
Silat: ok, i see ya
AKAK:(paraphrase) 2 sectors away
Murdr: damit, this la7 is going to force me to evade, then then the dora will HO me.
(enemy lead/trail formation, try any fancy overshoot moves and the trail will pop you)
I amost stayed out of the HO to, which is very hard to do with both hugging the deck.  But I lost a wingtip, so I just rode it out awhile to give silat some time.  Then when it was clear I was going to get poped within 3 seconds, I jumped in the silk and watched silat scream in and clip both of them :)

The HO was the only ping I took the entire flight across 6 sectors, and several high nme, I feel no shame:aok

Hehe Murdr. When I came along your path that night i knew you were one of the P38's and 1 was akak. Both of you were flying extremly well for the ammount of numbers there. I made a few passes and pinged AKAK. Decided to do another pass as It looked like (what I didnt know to be akak) a P38 was on the 6 of a friendly. Decided to make a pass to get him off, no intending to kill him, and scare him off. Turned out he did as I predicted but then came onto my 6. I went into a vertical climb and somone came and blasted akak thus giving me the assist. I didnt want to keep attacking as it was 6 v 1 or something imnot sure of the numbers. Murdr died sometime later. That was some sweet flying tho guys . Thats what made me decide to change to knights. No squaddies on, reduced to fly sloppy seconds ;)

It doesn't really matter if the P-38 is a "Easy Mode" plane or not does it?  I mean, really, if I ever decide to load up AH again (been very tempted lately) then I will still own you all in my F4U-C, now that is an true "Easy Mode" plane.:D

It was fun, I got 3 kills, and pulled like a dozen evasives, think I only took pings twice.  Oh, and the best part (kind of) I survived all the other friendlies (for a little while anyways):)

ahh Heard you vulched alot in that thing Booky, just what i hear from many ppl tho, this isnt a personal attack ;) ill give you names.

Yah murdr I saw most of the attacks on you. Usually when there are that many on 2 P38's I'd stay out, eve if one of you were gonna kill a friendly, they are morons for being killed with that many numbers.  But I was already flying that guys way and decided to save the poor SOB, still have aquired my beer from him yet.

Vulched? Well yeah I did my share. Those were the oens that I landed 50 kills a sortie (never could get the 100+ that some people managed to get).

But I also had my share of decent comments :-)

I remember Silat saying (does he still fly btw?) something to the effect of, I ain't never seen a f4 do that on the deck before! :D

I admit I vulched a lot, but I prefered to call it surpressing the field:lol   But I also liked to get down and dirty in it. You will see when I get the wife to let me subscribe to yet another sim.  I already subscribed to wwiionline for the tanks and eve-online for my mmorpgchatwasteoftimeaddictin gbestlookinggameieverseeninmy entirelife fix.

Anyway, hope to see you all in my sights soon, but with another semester of school comming up and working 50 hours a week, and flying 4 hours a week for real im not sure I will have time for any of my games. We will see.

p38 easy mode

I thought easy mode was not having stall limiter off. Thus I understood ack-acks sarcasm perfectly. Ive been playing for 2 years and just took stall limiter off 2 days ago.!. Noone ever told me what it was..i seemed to do well with it on, but I now know how pilots outperformed me when they shouldnt have.
