Schadenfreude, don't be an ass.
1. I don't feel I am being an ass.
2. If I do feel like being an ass, that's my perogative.
3. If American troops haven't worked out that someone is using Faluja as a chopper trap - 5 down in 5 months with numerous casualties then someone is being pig headed or just plain stupid.
Better to drive and expect to be attacked and when you are deal with the attackers on the ground
4. Most casualties come from blast from improvised explosive devices or mines - both which are command detonated.
5. My point being that there are numerous models of vehicles available which provide protection from mines/blast - if ambushed you debus and take the fight to the enemy - well that's what I was taught anyway. But you have to survive the initial contact ie the command detonation.
6. Want to die or lose arms and legs or worse - drive around in an unarmoured hummer or better still a supply truck.
Your troops are expected to do a job by people who are not giving them the equipment they need ( gosh who in the military has ever heard of such a thing!) It pisses me off - it should piss Americans off even more.
If I was somewhat sarcastic with the 3 year wonder boy it's because after three years - 1 year training, 1 training troops and 1 year on ops I only just barely knew what the hell I was talking about - I served another 5 years and after that 4 in what you would call the reserves.
If I want the military opinion of someone I won't go to someone who's never seen the elephant, never fired a rpg, doesn't know jack about coin and seemingly gathers their information from hollywood.
The subject is closed gentlemen.
