I didn't want it to come to this, I love my family..

But it has gotten to the point that I can't sit down and fly a sortie without being interrupted for some mundane task.

They are armed and have strict orders to shoot on sight. Yes the guns ARE small but they can draw blood at 10 feet..

You DON'T wanna mess with the machine gunner.

I have two family members sporting bandaides as a result of a recent attack.

It's drastic I know, but it works.

The grenades are on order..

These nazi toys freak me out... I saw a bunch of them ovcer the holidays at Toys R Us, what kind of a kid wants a Waffen SS Hauptsturmfuhrer with a Sturmgewehr..... Whats next? Bruno the camp guard?

Very few.

Where is there input to spark and interest ?? A couple of movies maybe, no TV shows ??

Don't think it's targeted at "kids" in the age sense. Although it is targeted at kids..

It's as apolitical as flying in a German squad. I've had an interest in German militaria since I watched Combat, or Rat Patrol when I was a kid. I started collecting in 1967 in highschool. That has stayed with me to this day through modeling and collecting.

My wittle nazis are sporting new M35 and M40 uniforms that Santa gave them for Christmas. If you'd like to discuss the differences between the M35 and 40 ?? I'm the man. I have wittle decals ordered for their wittle helmuts..

I have reeeeeely wittle nazis in a diorama that was fun to build.

I have a helmut shell that's in the process of being finished by "the helmut painter" that is similar in appearance to this:

Have a small collection of militaria to display with it.

Have a M40 shell on order so I can try to duplicate his work, matching paint, fiddling..Decals inroute.

I also am collecting original Combat TV shows on tape..

What kind of kid ??

I'm a kid, though I am now forced to use fiber supplements in my diet..

I throw Nazi dolls in the prop arc of my r/c airplane. Its fun for the whole family.

In the interest of balance Grun, Santa sent a 2 foot monster 4th Fighter Group Jug that I use to guard my Franz Stigler signed prints.

Great stories from that gentleman. He was shot down eleven times. Flew with Marseille when he was in JG 27. Flew 262's with JV 44 in the late war. What he has seen, what he has experienced. Makes the imagination go..

Though in person, he is very small in stature.

You might even call him wittle nazi

Taking into account your statement.

What are we doing by "playing" this game ?

MS flight simulator would be much more politically correct..

We could have squads shooting ILS approaches instead of other pilots..

Playing and doing are two different things, I've done both.

They have no relation to each other. One is a hobby, one is a passion, whether it's collecting, modeling or "playing". Or putting up wittle army men to look at.

Playing is playing.

Playing is fun. That's all it is. It's not a statement of politcal affiliation, or a glorification of anything.

Thinking like a nine year old keeps one young. But on occasion, it is embarrassing to the family when we're out to dinner and I start shooting spit wads at the waiter out the straw that came with my umbrella drink..

Grandsons just about got it down.

Sometimes the umbrella drink comes with that cool wittle sword stuck in the cherry.

But that's another story..

What I find interesting is that if I had three US Army Rangers from the Normandy campaign on top of my toybox, would we be discussing the glorification of war ?

Nopoop I don't see having replicas or relics as an issue. Now if you idolized the Germans of that era to the extreme as some do then I'd be worried. Some still follow that way of thinking by the Germans during that era and frankly it's scary.

But then again we still have people in the US that follow the way of thinking of the South from the Civil War which is just as bad. I'd be a bit worried about them too.

Cool diorama though. I'm thinking of making a modern one with an F-15E and a hardenend aircraft shelter from RAF Lakenheath. The hangar would have working doors, lights, ect...I wanted to wire the aircraft models lights too but the light assemeblies are way too small for anything I can find.

Try Radio shack (locally), or search the web, for LED light for your model / diorama...if those are still to big - try fiber optics...if you get crazy enough you can even light a cockpits guages with Fiber optics...lol

Thanks Waffle..I was looking at using some of the doll house lighting. They've got some very small setups that could possible work for the aircraft itself. The hangar is no problem. I just have to do a mechanical drawing to figure out how to get the doors to more and stuff.

Cobra hit the local oak furniture store. A "lawyers" bookcase is inexpensive and begs to filled with dioramas. Each shelf is big enough for a scene. Lighting is cheap and the case is narrow and tall and really presents well.

No dust no muss and they don't fall apart after being on top of a stereo speaker for a year. Case it, and it doesn't get broken, dusty or dropped.

Only took 40 years for me to figure it out.

Fun stuff, and the miniture lighting available as waffle said can do some great things for presentation.
